2.09% is the cumulative position of shorts over 0.5% in size. You could have 10 hedgies short an average of 0.3% and they wouldn’t appear on shorttracker. One of the major negatives of the London market is how opaque cumulative short disclosure is, it’s truly appalling.

Oh and total volume the last 2 days has been just shy of £50m, that’s more than a significant number of FTSE 100 shares, so definitely not thin trading. This has been aggressive attacked & it will be interesting to see whether they try to push it through the strong support at £21-22

https://shorttracker.co.uk/company/GB00BBQ38507/Only 2% total short on KWS as of 3 May.In a thinly traded AIM stock like KWS,its not difficult to give the price a good kicking.Relative highish PE.It's rumoured that Goldmans have in the past placed stock with clients with a 'buy recommendation' whilst concurrently shorting the self same stock on their book but i'm sure that's a lie.A consequence of dual capacity.Anyway, the dust will settle no doubt.

So Goldman are cashing in on the current AI craze, except in a negative way. All they need to do is identify which specific companies will be adversely affected in the short-medium term, and we can all make money on their ETF! And that will beat an S&P500 tracker, will it? I don't think so. Sounds like Wall Street classic B.S. to me - but that's what Wall Street is all about - fleecing suckers every which way possible to make the incremental buck!

"Artificial intelligence (AI) exchange-traded funds (ETFs) seek to provide exposure to a fast-growing segment of the technology industry. AI aims to simulate human intelligence, leveraging powerful algorithms to make machines think and act like human beings."Powerful competition for the human race and one can presume that the A1 ETFs won't stagger into the office with a hangover or return squiffy from a liquid lunch.....when,of course, some of the best investment ideas have historically been constructed :)Anyway,Goldmans have/are apparently constructing an ETF that identifies companies that could suffer from the march of AI and KWS is in the frame.

All they need to do is put out a release saying they now have a dedicated AI team that are science-ing the sh*t out of their entire operation - and up it goes!

I'd have thought that AI was just as likely to be beneficial to KWS if they can partly use it to reduce staff costs.

There are suggestions that Goldmans has created a short instrument to benefit from the adverse effects of artificial intelligence upon various companies. This has involved creating a short for Keywords Studio amongst others.

One makes the assumption that there is always some well considered logic behind share price moves.Over time thats probably true but short term,in a market dominated by algorithms, flighty proprietary traders and spreadbetters, its not clear exactly what drives daily share price moves.Take Volex for example.Until recently the shares were in the doldrums and fell to near a 12 month low.Update comes out and the shares have rallied 40% since.Clearly, some of the second line stocks are very badly researched nowadays especially since MIFID2 decimated research analyst ranks.KWS has always been fairly volatile.I presume some spurious or valid explanation for todays slump will be proffered in the next day or two.

Sold out ahead of figures primarily because the stock was near the top of its trading range.Equities are high risk currently.Good results are treated shabbily, bad results very badly. There’s nowhere to run.
