Seems to me that many would be grateful - as it would remove a big problem for them.

It is quite clear already that many companies want out and have already written down their investments.

For example BP and Shell, to name just a few.

One notes that two more very major global companies have just joined the long list of companies withdrawing.

This time, Haliburton and Bosch.

Do u understand how many foreign investors have stakes in these companies.....Chinese... Middle Eastern etc ....They are not involved, what do you think these people would say or do towards Russia ? Wake up and look at the bigger picture .... What is your agenda here ? Scare tactics towards private investors......pretty sad !!

???

Russia can nationalise its own companies.

At one time, all major industry in Russia was State-owned and de facto nationalised.

wouldn't surprise me if companies are nationalised - at today's prices or less.

Well ... they will have to ask Kazakhstan then ... for 66 percent of it ... now let's think .. what's that worth ?? What do you think ?

Indeed. I very much doubt the Russians are terribly worried about the price. I am quite sure they are interested in the value though :).

There is a difference between Price and Value.

The Price of Russian stocks are down 90%ish, however I doubt very much if their value is down anywhere near that percentage.

Telegraph is reporting a change of emphasis by China:

Behind a paywall, but features attacks on civilians, describes it as a war, an invasion, and is sending humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

"China’s ambassador to Ukraine, Fan Xianrong, praised the strength and unity of Ukrainian people, saying China would never attack the country but be a “good force” to it both politically and economically."

Not good news for Vlad the Impaler.

The last published nav from the last day the Moscow stock market was open was 480p. The invasion started on the 24th February. The stock market continued to trade on the 24th and 25th. When the stock market reopens, even a big fall from the last close would still give a nav well in excess of the current published nav.

EDIT: For comparison purposes, the nav a week before the invasion was 720p. So the Moscow stock market had already fallen substantially by the 25th February.

The Nav RNS have been coming out all week. Personally I think there will be a scramble in rather than out when the markets open and a upwards NAV correction on a large scale... nobody wants money in the bank in Russia, nobody wants BTC there... they will want cheap stock... expecting this to move upwards...

The published nav is completely meaningless at the moment because there is no real market for Russian shares right now. When Moscow's stock market reopens, a more realistic nav can be calculated which I expect to be well above the current share price.

In the first couple of weeks of Russia going into the Ukraine, and all the sanctions etc, Europe has bought €9.1bln worth of oil and gas from Russia.
