02/2/2023 12:16 | In the last 12 months, the share price has dropped about 40%, probably fair to say a downbeat trading statement has largely already been priced in. | trigger blade
02/2/2023 10:24 | First time I’ve had a downbeat trading statement and the price rises | gripfit
02/2/2023 09:05 | bda490, And less than 12 hours later…… A tenuous Halstead connection to beer companies, but going back many years, there was a colour in the Polyflor range called (I think) Cherry Red. It was sold in Australia and was used on bar tops and other areas of Castlemaine pubs and eventually the colour became known over there as Castlemaine Red. As for the update, assuming the dividend is at least maintained, with other costs under control and freight costs dropping, it reads quite well, I’m sure others are better informed than me. | trigger blade
02/2/2023 07:36 | Trading update.... | lundhousegreen
01/2/2023 20:49 | I’ve been a long time holder so time and dividend returns have been good for me! But it is a high multiple. No doubt there will be some market update at some stage But it’s about the only manufacturer in my limited portfolio excluding beer companies | bda3490
27/1/2023 13:59 | That was not my intention. Just thought a mid 20's multiple with their growth rates significantly slowing is rich in a background of rising interest rates. If you see it differently fair enough. JHD the Rolls Royce of the sector and their longer term record exceptional. Given the current size of the business it may now be more difficult to achieve some of the high growth rates seen over past years. Good fortune. | essentialinvestor
25/1/2023 19:19 | As ever lads with 2 bob in shares pontificate Move overseas buy from Cambodia ! Buy some shares | bda3490
23/1/2023 22:57 | Maybe , but the share price continues to drop when m any other high PE stocks have bounced in the last couple of months. I thought the strike was now over but as you say , it has not helped. www.burytimes.co.uk/ | wad collector
23/1/2023 17:00 | wad, I can take a guess, it looks an unwind of post ZIRP high multiples in some stocks. JHD had been pushed to a mid 20 X earnings multiple - for a business with now modest growth rates. The strike action has also not helped sentiment. | essentialinvestor
23/1/2023 16:51 | Ouch that is now a 7 yr low. Am I missing something? | wad collector
03/12/2022 18:12 | They sell all over the world. Time to move some of the manufacturing to the Far East perhaps? | rogerlin
02/12/2022 11:09 | Is it owned freehold by JHD? | zangdook
02/12/2022 10:10 | What is worth knowing is that although it is the head office, the Radcliffe site is old and cramped, the 2 calendered product lines are unreliable and inefficient. The safety flooring line is modern but could easily be moved/replaced and the calendered products which form a smaller part of the product mix could be sourced elsewhere. Expensive? the site is in the middle of a residential area and would almost certainly get permission for housing. | kar120c
02/12/2022 06:44 | Thanks for pointing to that kar120c. It doesn't sound a very positive situation though. | rogerlin
01/12/2022 17:13 | It's been going on for months and fairly well covered in the local press but the Bury Times are now reporting it as ended 9% and 2 one-off payments of £660. It was only ever at Radcliffe and it wouldn't surprise me if this is the last nail in that plant's coffin. | kar120c
01/12/2022 10:18 | I bought a few more JHD a couple of weeks ago and wouldn’t have done that if I’d been aware of the industrial action. On the positive side, their strategic increased stock levels will protect sales to some extent, although not for big contracts which are made to order. | trigger blade
01/12/2022 08:39 | They ought to have RNSed the strike when it happened imho. Staff want 10%, JHD offers 8% + £400. Come on, they should be able to sort that out. | zangdook
01/12/2022 08:30 | Hmm, I was unaware of that strike and there is a concerning note to the statement about energy costs I was thinking about adding on weakness but think I will go elsewhere now. | wad collector
01/12/2022 07:21 | AGM statement | lundhousegreen
13/11/2022 09:38 | Xd 5.5p this week. Has the share price finally bottomed out? | wad collector
11/10/2022 18:22 | Still giggling at the “didn’t understand the share spilt” comment from the seasonal investor!! Twice as many at half the price ! | bda3490
07/10/2022 10:54 | IC says HOLD after this week's results, FWIW. | wad collector
03/10/2022 21:58 | Not bad considering... But with a flat dividend, in danger of losing that unbroken 45 yr annual dividend rise. Though actually , on a calendar year basis they have not, as the rebased interim one was up about 0.12p or so.... | wad collector |
