Options Traders Are Betting On $300 Oil - Oilprice.com today

'Adventurous options traders placed bets this week on oil prices hitting $250 and even $300 per barrel, betting for the first time this year that oil could exceed $250, ICE Futures Europe data cited by Bloomberg showed.

On Thursday, options traders traded the equivalent of 5 million barrels of Brent at $250 and $300 call options.

Call options give traders the right—but not the obligation—to buy assets at a certain price, the so-called strike price, by a certain date.

The amounts of call options at triple-digit strikes have soared in recent weeks, suggesting that more speculative traders are attracted by potential quick profits from options trades, which are relatively low-cost ways to speculate on the direction of an asset.

While $250 per barrel bets are the first call options traded this year, some traders have already bet on $200 and $215 oil in recent weeks, according to Bloomberg data.

Last month, exchange trade data showed that as oil prices hit multi-year highs, some speculative traders were betting on the options market that oil could exceed $100 a barrel by the end of this year and even reach a record $200 per barrel by the end of 2022.

The resurgent activity with bets on $100 or $200 oil shows that more traders are getting into the energy market amid the global energy crunch, and more of those speculators are bullish on oil prices.

$100 a barrel oil is no longer an outrageous bet, as it was at the start of this year, and even some investment banks believe that crude prices could hit the triple digits as soon as in the middle of next year.

Most recently, Bank of America said that Brent Crude prices could rise to as much as $120 per barrel in the first half of 2022 due to the global gas crisis, booming air travel with international flights returning, and a comeback of Asian demand.'

This has been occurring almost daily. Mid point price gets knocked down on auction by 400 to 1300 shares.

20k then 30k then 50k : by then divi should be $10c a share or $46.5m a year. At that point the divi would make a nice small pension per year :)

Good to see today's uptick. The chart uptrend is still very much intact. Almost a straight line linking up the higher lows. We just need to take out that double top and then it's on to blue skies.

Thanks guys. Yes agree I'd prefer growth here too. Was just interested in your thoughts as dividend Max is usually pretty good with predictions. I just added some here today end of day.

Closing auction was 134 (£113) at 84.2p against a mid price of 85.5p.

So, there is likely to be an early tick up on opening tomorrow.

The 2021 Interim Dividend was up 9.25% on 2021 - its currently delivering a yield of 1.58%.

The plan seems to be to keep the dividend growth around the current level of annual increase, with the rest of the now huge cash generation ploughed back into further M&A activity and organic growth - which is fine by me.

I think although it is nice to be a dividend paying company as it shows there is definitely plenty of free cashflow on the books BUT it doesn't matter to me whether they pay 2% yield or 5% yield - I would rather they remained a growth stock and invested the capital for me while I have faith in their ability to find unloved assets.

I guess that makes me a long term investor though .... :)

Jadestone Energy's high denomination bank note printing press continues to churn out the high denomination notes!

IMO 2020 preparation spike aside, ship bunker prices hit further new 7 year highs this week, not seen since the days of $100+ Brent during 2010-2014.

At today's $85/bbl Brent price, Jadestone's Stag production should be realising circa $92+/bbl inclusive of the most recent regional premium to Brent(which has since strengthened).

Marine Fuel Oil and Major Oil Benchmark pricing - Change compared to pricing on 9th December 2020 in brackets - (all prices rounded to nearest whole number)

$124 / (+45) - Marine Gas Oil - APAC Average
$103 / (+39) - VLSFO - APAC Average
$92 / (+34) - Jadestone / STAG - $10.15/bbl latest premium to Brent)
$87 / (+35) - Jadestone / Montara - $1.5/bbl latest premium to Brent
$87 / (+35) - Jadestone / Peninsula Malaysia - est $1.5/bbl premium to Brent
$87 / (+35) - Maari - est $1.5/bbl premium to Brent
$85 / (+37) - Brent
$82 / (+38) - High Sulphur Fuel Oil - APAC Average
$84 / (+36) - WTI

At today's Brent price, 2021 guidance OPEX and latest IMO 2020 premiums to Brent, Jadestone should be realising circa $67/bbl operating cash flow for its Stag and Montara production, and circa $69/bbl for its Peninsula Malaysian production.

With estimated current total production of circa 19,500 bopd(13,000 bopd /Montara and Stag - 6,500 boepd / PM), Jadestone should be realising circa $482 million/yr of gross operating cash flow, with the potential to increase to $543 million/yr by mid November on completion of the Skua and Swift work-overs, and up to $629 million/year on completion of the Maari acquisition.

Current market cap: $517m.

Estimated Annual Revenue at $85/Brent:
$620m - Current
$700m - Plus Skua and Swift Work-overs (Mid November)
$812m - On Maari Completion (plus a circa $65m-$75m net consideration cheque)

Royal assent is just a rubber stamp. I used to occasionally have to see for my job when things had been signed off by Privy Council and it is never an issue. If it has passed the NZ parliament then its effectively job done.

The average time from 2nd Reading to Royal assent of a very imprecise survey of the last ten bills was 2 weeks . The longer ones - 2 months - traversed the 'holiday season' in August. NB Parliament rises for Xmas on the 16th Dec so exactly 4 weeks to get it done in 2021.

I have 52 days to carry out the work.......that would take us to 8th Nov I think.

Not sure of he exact start date......perhaps Croasdalelfc could help with exact dates/numbers.

Cheers.
