01/3/2024 08:21 | Yes she is. The share price never got close to recovering from a car crash of meeting 3 years ago where they announced they were looking to compete globally and mentioned Prime and Netflix | ![]() marksp2011

01/3/2024 08:12 | Back to 63p is a good start. 10% of shares (it will work out as a fair bit less than that if the share price rises accordingly) is a fair number to buy back. Only 5.5% is owned by private investors. 9.9% tied up with Liberty Global... | ![]() huckers

01/3/2024 07:58 | Buy backs seem to ALWAYS work provided the news slow about the company during the buyback period is generally good (eg Pearson or Frasers etc etc)... | netcurtains
01/3/2024 07:55 | The buyback should provide a nice easy disposal route for those institutions wanting out. Expect the price to rise on the news and then fall back. There are plenty of companies out there buying back their own stock who have stock out on loan with their share prices continuing to to drop.A buyback isn't a silver bullet to increased share price.spud | spud
01/3/2024 07:55 | There have been streams of rubbish on ITV over the past couple of years Almost as much as posted on here. The post office drama was one of the few high points If they can carry on producing more high quality programming like that all well and good but Love Island ,I'm a Celebrity and the like don t cut the mustard but rather leave a lingering odour. Dividend if maintained very attractive at these levels Happy Saint David's Day One needs the patience of a saint | ![]() jubberjim
01/3/2024 07:52 | some postive news, at last! so i would assume the dividend is safe as they are using the money for buybacks. leaving britbox to focus on itvx and very good price too | ![]() nakedmolerat

01/3/2024 07:50 | Buybacks completely make sense at this share price and especially if they are going to hold the 5p dividend. | ![]() huckers
01/3/2024 07:49 | If I was short, I would close now. And then look to reopen positions when the buyback has nearly exhausted itself (provided the advertising downturn continues to weigh). | ![]() huckers
01/3/2024 07:47 | Before the buyback bashers start bawling their eyes out (because they don't understand them), remember the buyback is also like repaying a 9% loan (which is the current dividend yield) | ![]() jonnybig

01/3/2024 07:38 | Interesting! £235m all as a share buy back! A little over 10% of the shares at current share price (4.034bn shares in issue). And given the 90-day avg volume is only 10.4m shares traded per day that should have a significant effect on the share price Plus we have 1.75% declared shorts over the 0.5% threshold that will probably be encouranged to close their positions? Hopefully it also means the dividend will be safe? | ![]() huckers
01/3/2024 07:37 | Great news. With itv shares so dirt cheap, the best investment for the 235 million quid is in ITSELF! | ![]() jonnybig

01/3/2024 07:08 | At long last ..... ITV plc has today announced that it has sold its entire 50% interest in digital subscription streaming service BritBox International to its joint venture partner BBC Studios for a cash consideration of £255 million. The transaction will provide net proceeds including loan repayments and accrued dividends and after tax of around £235 million. The sale reflects ITV's strategy of focusing on supercharging its UK advertiser-funded streaming service, ITVX and growing its global Studios division. The Board intends to return the entire net sale proceeds to shareholders through a share buyback which it expects to launch imminently after the full year results on 7 March. McCall must be a lurker on here ;-) | ![]() tlobs2 |
