So markets forced this up and now markets forcing it back down again. Even studying level 2 trades won't really answer any questions here. We really need some news and the closer we get to July the more likely just a closing statement in July. I will add the question to my list for AGM as they answered that last year. Which likely means trading as expected. I fear a TU now may even be bad news. I do wonder if shrinking products may reduce revenue here a bit. If like I think they have big orders in the pipeline this should move past break even point to a profit in next 1-2 years. How long it takes to turn this ship around is another matter.

hTtps://www.jb-display.com/_files/ugd/76f0d9_59370214d9c04bbd8a5260e3b0ef2903.pdf That’s a big new factory. If you cant work out the ‘link’ to IQE these are the important sentences from Porotech and from JB-Dispay. Porotech has today announced its first partnership – with Jade Bird Display (JBD) in China, a leader in micro-LED display technology. Porotech will be providing Shanghai-based JBD with its unique porous gallium nitride (GaN) technology that is set to transform the electronics industry. And It is reported that the JBD Hefei plant project covers 79 acres, funded with an initial investment of 650 million RMB and a construction cycle of 12 months. The commissioning of this factory will help JBD achieve the annual capacity of manufacturing 120 million MicroLED micro-displays, to meet the demands of the AR/VR industry and hence enable the development of the Metaverse. The Metavers has been the top ‘target’ for our new CEO and he has banged on about it in his PR appearances. There is enough going on with IQE to keep me interested S

A moment of light relief An interesting short video featuring the CEO of Porotech from last November, since that time they have received another £20million in funding and announced significant progress in their offerings, which we know will use IQE wafers, it’s interesting that Porotech already claim to have the worlds biggest display company as a customer. The micro led market is going to be huge so IQE cementing itself as the GAN Epitaxy supplier and strategic partner is good news going forwards hTtps://www.porotech.com/2022/02/15/porotech-wins-2021-falling-walls-venture-award-watch-our-ceos-pitch/ S

deascii - To you it's a big win. To me it's greenwash. I guess that's the point of these boards really. People can agree to disagree. And as long as it's done civilly, the world's a richer place.

At the end of the day it’s about crossing the T’s and dotting the i’s, PR and “playing the game” something that has not been IQE strong point in the past. Crosswires, agreed it will be a tough year for the markets, however I predict next year will be much better. Market now pricing in for tough period to come, at some point next year it will be pricing in for better times to come.

I would love to know what happened to the £95m raised. Maybe someone got hold of it and ran off with it in a suitcase. It almost seems as though whatever it was spent on has not added remotely to the wealth of the company or its shareholders. Trouble is you can only pull off stunts like that once.

LLOL, Net Zero is set out in the Paris Agreement - search > UN Net Zero Paris Agreement… Put simply - emissions need to be reduced by 45% by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050. I’m just highlighting the fact that IQE’s PR this morning is about making commitment to Net Zero. I’m sure IQE will be in this position sooner than 2030, especially if they are compete in markets where buyers and decision makers look into companies green credentials whilst sourcing components. As I said, this is a big win for IQE and not ‘utter greenwash’!

beermat1 - I agree it's decent PR. That doesn't make it any more likely to happen though. So yes, if it was intended as an advert, job done. But if it was a genuine environmental goal (as some on here have suggested), the 2050 timescale makes the whole thing laughable. Particularly given IQE's forecasting skills.

LLOL, yes you can knock the comment or alternatively you can recognise a new ceo advertising the company wares, I’m in the latter camp myself. Each to their own, GLA.

A company commitment to do something by 2050 is a fairly empty promise. Historically, IQE hasn't been able to fulfil the forecasts it made 2 or 3 years ago, let alone 28.

Agree Deascii. Net zero commitment is now a prerequisite for getting into the supply chain of many major companies.

deascii - it really ISN'T news, it's utter greenwash, which is why the share price has dropped in line with markets (or worse) at time of writing rather than rising even slightly. Carbon neutral by 2050 is a pretty meaningless statement. Particularly when companies like Apple have set a target of 2030. Lemos will long since have retired and IQE could well have been taken over or gone bust way before then.

Many will see this mornings PR as a non news item, however, in the tech world where you need to be winning big contracts with major suppliers who are already committed to Net Zero; this is a major win for IQE. Apple are already Carbon Neutral and by 2030 all their products will be too. IMO this news is highly significant if IQE are to supply leading manufactures of phones and wearables. Get in there IQE!!!

Such a frustrating share to own. Not only did it not hold 40p it’s now on it’s way back to 30p. Inflation will ramp up over summer and further still as we head into winter and it will continue to be a very bumpy old time for the markets. There is not much tolerance for bad news so let’s hope that Sept doesn’t disappoint with its forward statement. I hope Sweenoids right about how clever Richard Griffiths is and how he must have had an good old chat with Americo to take such a big stake…

I was thinking about asking about new partnerships with Global Foundary and others but I guess they won't comment on this. They must expect them to lead to big orders eventually? It's still possible there could be a TU before the AGM otherwise it's worth asking if trading is as expected as last anounced with a small % increase this year. I suspect a closing statement in July albeit they did do a TU previously in June around 20th. At this stage they may hold it back with other news. I think we all realise it's the future plans that matter here.

guildedge - some pertinent questions there! As to whether they’ll respond, only one way to find out really. One additional question I’d like added is “Given IQE’s current cash balance, it appears most of 2017’s £95m fundraise has already been spent. Could you please give a breakdown on where it was allocated & why it hasn’t led to any significant increase in sales or profits?”

Excellent questions Guildo,I'd also ask if they have the skilled technicians trained and ready for the huge volume of work that IQE are about to be deluged by.Gav

Thoughts on AGM questions. 1. How are IQE dealing with cost of living crisis with soaring cost of parts and rising day to day costs operationally? What impact do you anticipate this to have on margins. 2. Is the ambition long term to have 100 tools fully operational at the Welsh site? If so how would this be funded? Are you confident your supplier would be able to provide these tools? Plus hire staff required to man them in a tough employment market? 3. How many production tools does IQE have and what percentage of the tools are currently not in use? 4. How easy is it to retool plants when new products come in. Is there still a 6 month or so lead on this process for new tools? 5. Last year an RNS talked about developing products with the one fits all approach. How is this approach coming along? Are any of these actually in use now? 6. With the issue of currency hedging is there a plan long term to rebase outside of the UK to reduce currency headwind? 7. Can you give a rough breakdown on how the 95m ipo in 2017 was spent? Any thoughts on these? Any tweaks? Would they actually answer them? I am updating these as suggestions come in. I will email them to IQE AGM email address in a day or so.

As we are getting to the end of the day the share price gets a bit stronger as it has happened for the last couple of days. DEPTH was positive 37 v 35 on reaching bid at 34.50p but did not last now again well lower 30 v 38 note - it seems there is someone who puts lots of 6,000 on the sell-side that eventually are taken as "AT"
