And your attack on my credibility built on confidence on markets that didn’t yet accelerate for different reasons is what Lord?

Always good to keep an open mind (which filtering sometimes prevents). But context is also important, which is why I made today's comments - and stand by them. I'm as keen as the next investor for IQE to succeed, having a six figure sum at stake here. But IMHO, when we start getting posts from new? "chartists", suggesting "80 before resistance and then another significant move up (£1.30min???)", it's time to deflate (if not burst) their bubble.

So long as the posts on the board are balanced views and not some of the ramping that went on in the past everyone should be free to post what they like. We can already see the rising price and interest has bought more posters (some of whom have posted the same posts on the LSE board) and I expect this will continue further if the price goes past 40 and consolidates.

Also of someone is not your cup of tea posts wise then filter them, easy and then you need not be annoyed ;)

Crosswires, note Lord is the one who refers to me in his posts, I refer to what I think about IQE so either ignore him or not. I have been clear about my views and admitted when wrong. The board is about opinions and mine are about the company rather than trying to be clever like some others. I am comfortable with my views and my investments and believe I will make a lot of money with IQE. I sold all in March 2020 at 47p and bought back at 22 to 29 or little higher on the months after. I see this as an even better chance to invest and have put my money where my posts are. I don’t care to discuss other people, I want to make money and retire to golf course

It's nothing personal, so no hard feelings I hope. Just that I suspect some were persuaded to buy in last time, based - at least in part - on savvy investor's ever-more-enthusiastic posts. He's freely admitted, with hindsight, that these were very wide of the mark - and I commend him wholeheartedly for that. But some may be relatively new to this board, so I'm just trying to inject a bit of balance and caution. Which includes pointing out that the shares savvy sold in March 2020 at 47p were - by his own admission at the time - sold at a loss. Even if he's bought back in cheaper since.

Lord, I have no back story. I was wrong 2 years ago before the world changed for everyone with supply chain, inflation and lower growth in new markets than I expected. 5G, wearable glasses, smart phone health monitoring via smartphone and many more markets are going to grow exponentially soon, I want in before they do. Get over it and discuss today or stop referring to me in the way you like to trying to be the big man saying I got something wrong that I freely admit. Try looking at yourself rather than me and by all means filter me

longtallsally - I agree entirely. I'd also encourage savvy investor to come clean with his full back story. We were told by him a few years back that things could only get better for IQE. They promptly proceeded to get significantly worse, the share price duly tanked & (according to his posts at the time), he then finally bailed out at a hefty loss. Not saying we'll see history repeat itself. But just like all the rest of us, he's not an infallible guide.

Totally agree lingtallsally.

Only question is whether you invest before such figures are likely or real based on the news you do have available.

The new CEO, Richard investment, general release of 8inch months/years ahead of competition with the markets served being such fast growing and the 5g investment pickup in China and soon around the world to stimulate growth and the government reasons for encouraging companies like IQE mean I want in before the general public realise. 40p means 100% at 80p but only 33% at 60p so you have to decide when is the right time. And clearly I could be incredibly wrong.

Talk of 80p quickly and £1.30 will only come about if IQE deliver substantial growth in revenues and some profit, not because the chart says so. This is not a new fangled recently floated stock. We have discussed the likely hope of takeovers a hundred times and I see nothing new that would indicate that.

However it is nice to see IQE getting some attention and the price moving up steadily. A little and often will do me nicely me thinks :)

Potential double bottom on monthly chart?

Low close Mar 2020 26.84
Low close Apr 2020 29.33
(I know more than the usual 3-4% derivation but it is over a 2 year period as opposed to a few months)

If plays out should move to 80 before resistance and then another significant move up (£1.30min???).

Hornblower (or others), any thoughts/comments would be much appreciated.

So it looks like IQEs recent performance and the big PI purchase might see “traders”; and momentum investors checking out the stock. I’m now hopeful that the poor couple of years can be put to bed and I can relax a little and look forward to a significantly better couple of years knowing that i’ve accumulated as many cheap shares as I possibly could justify. Be interesting to see if we get some more pertinent news (now IQEs news flow under AL has improved) pre September earnings. My fingers are firmly crossed that there is no negative July update.

Ok I did it 2 years ago at between 22 and 29. In now going to go all in. I think this is all now very real. It is not huge money compared with the likes of Richard but I could buy a house of the SIPP allowed… got 40k coming in bonus soon so if roses before done, if doesn’t I’m still going in. I put lots in at 30p and never been so sure it was right since 22p in March 2020. Don’t follow me, do your own due diligence and use your own risk profile 😁. Good luck

CHIP STOCKS WAVER AFTER YELLEN CALLS FOR MORE INVESTMENT - 7 June 2022

U.S. chip stocks are slightly positive on Tuesday in a topsy-turvy session, with the main chip index failing to hold onto an stronger lift after U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen called for increased investment in the semiconductor industry.

Answering questions from U.S. senators, Yellen called investing in semi manufacturing capacity a national security priority as well as an economic priority.

She said it is important to "make the investments in semiconductors that will keep the United States in the lead in this critically important industry and to make sure we have the capacity to produce advanced chips at home".

The Philadelphia Semiconductor index up 0.1% at mid-day after bouncing between gains and losses. That was in line with the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq.

Advanced Micro Devices and Applied Materials are both slipping about 1%, weighing on the chip index.

ON Semiconductor is off 2%, giving back some of its almost 5% gain from Monday following news the analog chipmaker would join the S&P 500.

On the upside, Broadcom and Marvell Technology are each up just under 1%, lifting the chip index more than any other stocks.

Hit by Wall Street's recent distaste for growth stocks with high valuations, the Philadelphia chip index is down about 22% in 2022, about the same as the Nasdaq.
