11/9/2017 09:24 | BBC: -I'm sorry to hear that. The trouble is they have no competition and no one seems to challenge the anti capitalism, left wing, socialistic tendencies that is ingrained in so many of there University educated people. Perhaps we should start by looking at the Universities & what they brain wash our gullible young people with. | plasybryn
11/9/2017 09:19 | Galatea They simply wouldn't be able to understand the concept of an organisation having an operational model that exposes itself successfully to target Addressable markets. They pull in licence fees and they spend it irresponsibly so I simply wouldn't expect them to understand. Even in 2017 it is not a corporate culture, not a sustainable one anyway. | steptoes yard

11/9/2017 09:03 | Par for the course with the BBC. Any similar company anywhere else would be praised to high heaven, starring on their terrible "Click" programme on BBC "News", with the inevitable moans along the lines of "why can't Britain do this?". Bloody thing ought to be shut down. | galatea99
11/9/2017 08:59 | Thanks Dai, - Hardly worth a listen Drew basically explains the prospects of the cluster and it's job creation opportunities to which the interviewer responds with skepticism speaking about compound semi conductors like they are the star-ship enterprise or some some distant dream. Drew kindly puts him straight underlining the current reliance on them stretching back 20 years and into the future. | whalehq
11/9/2017 08:47 | Drew is speaking on Radio Wales as I type this. He is explaining what IQE is doing and what the potential of IQE is. The Radio Wales presenter is trying to pour cold water on what Drew is saying. It is a bit sad. | daijavu
11/9/2017 07:59 | Nice to see official confirmation and news flow For those following Finisars difficulties, this is a good summary, I will do a little write-up on the difference between VERTICAL companies and OUTSOURCE companies and post it today/ tomorrow, it will explain why IQE's 'business model' hits the absolute sweet-spot for the VCSEL ( and other CS markets) and why and how that happens. Finisars will be used to show the counter :-) Read the article - it also says POSITIVE things about the markets we supply ( can do, are able AND executing) S | sweenoid

10/9/2017 20:41 | Why post 'ancient history' when I give you what's current!? Just recently I even 'shared' with you Macom's CEO e-mail conversation with me, stating quite clearly that IQE was pivotal to their GAN ON SIKICON RF GAN basestatiin proposition and central to their Indium phosphide business( data centres, fttx etc etc) I have also related IQE CEO Drew Nelsons comments at multiple AGM's that Macom are a key partner for GAN on silicon So you guys get it from the horses mouths and still you doubt!!! ( the CEI's themselves!) I despair S | sweenoid
10/9/2017 20:38 | ramridge, I thought we'd been through that. The TBA will not be IQE. It will be whatever partner/tech allows them to get that last 4X. IQE will still be their wafer supplier. | sheep_herder
10/9/2017 19:33 | ramridge - for those too young to remember, here's a link to what was said back then: ".. we look forward to a powerful ongoing relationship.." (though I wish it wasn't dated April Fools Day!) | grabster
10/9/2017 19:05 | 34 across in the Sunday Times general knowledge jumbo crossword. 'Material on which another material is deposited. (8)' I almost certainly wouldn't have got that without all Sweenoid's fine work ✅✅✅ See D, your work hasn't all been for nought. | hammerd2
10/9/2017 18:58 | On the subject of MACOM and GaN on Silicon, here is an extract from Seeking Alpha, article published in July 17: " MTSI(that's MACOM) has the potential to go on a run like AAOI over the next couple years but it is not just the optics. MACOM is ramping nicely into datacenter optics but is still a high percentage telecom. At a recent call they stated they are diverting almost all optic resources to the datacenter. They have the AMCC purchase which gives them PAM4 single laser and MACSEC. They have their own new L-PIC tech coming out. They are also integrating AMCC and MACOM tech. They have a much broader portfolio of optics. The bigger reason I own MTSI is the upcoming GaN products. They have the only GaN on silicon and are poised to replace all the LMDOS in basestations with GaN. This is a multibillion dollar market and they are going to move heavily into it late 2017 and think they have a great chance to get over half the market from nothing. They also have new GaN tech for radar and feel they could take over all radars starting more late 2018 which once again is a multibillion dollar market. MTSI will also target MIMO 5G antennas with this tech. MTSI is also moving GaN into commercial RF energy such as lighting, microwaves, and others. MTSI also has a robust defense industry segment. A lot going on at MTSI outside of optics. The optics alone will give good growth with GaN potential not priced into the stock. " I wish they would hurry and confirm that the "TBA" in their recent presentation is none other than IQE. Having searched the web, I cannot find any named reference by Macom to a foundry partner apart from IQE (publicly announced all the way back in 2014) | ramridge |
