Well I can read sweetnoids posts. I didn't filter, even though the posts clutter up the BB with the sort of showing off that some techy folk indulge in, to show how much they know about the subject.

Seen the over-excited tech. hype before, those folk never seem to be able to summarise.

Cleary sweetnoid has some view of 'ownership' of the bb and likes to think he holds fort, explaining everything and being the 'expert'.

Which is ironic, if he really doesn't have a clear view, which judging by the vast quantity of prose, he doesn't.

True. There is a particular type of BB where answers tend to be thin on the ground. I'm sure there are lurkers who know, but probably not the types to bother posting.

Oh well its not my problem if people get excited about technology and their investment without clearly knowing which tech. is replacement and which is new.

The reason I asked in the first place is because IQE is close to being a commodity supplier, some way down the buying chain. So growth is dependent on either having a monopoly on something (because of IP), so you have some pricing power, even with upgrades, or having new products which will get a share of another market and add to revenue.

You're probably right about contacting IQE. I'm sure they've got a single ppt slide with each possibility on it and a timescale. Most businesses have, otherwise they'd just end up pursuing tech. for tech. sake in a flurry of excitement.

All the other stuff is pretty irrelevant.

By the way Yump and Shauney are on my filter list. ( amongst a long list of pumpers, dumpers, miscreants , trolls, etc etc)I know they post but don't see the content, so if he is asking questions that's why I don't respond
Life is just too short to share with some irritatating anoying people

Won't post again until we get some relevant IQE centric news

Yump - by your own admission, your experience on the BB in getting answers is low, so you know the chances of anyone bothering probably haven't changed - best advice would be to put your specific questions directly to the directors!!

This trend places an unprecedented burden on analog RF and mix signal performance, vastly increasing the value and utility of our solutions.

“...We are enabling the next phase of the wireless revolution, powering new and previously unimagined applications. With the proliferation of 4G/LTE and advent of 5G, system-level performance requirements are intensifying, driving the need for substantially higher data rates, improved efficiency and reduced latency across an exponentially growing scope of networked devices. Leveraging our innovative portfolio, carrier aggregation leadership, operational scale and demonstrated ability to deliver highly integrated solutions, Skyworks is uniquely positioned to capitalize on this connectivity megatrend.”

I clearly get how inclusion in an extra part of a phone would lead to increased revenue for IQE - 'doubling' assumes the same price, same volume as existing inclusion of course. Not sure I take that as read, but hey-ho.

You mention the upgrade cycle, upgrade being the operative word as in improvement to an existing set of products. That doesn't necessarily mean growth for suppliers does it ?

As everyone knows, specifications are increasing all the time and I'm sure you are clear in your mind which upgrades are likely to lead to increased revenues for IQE.

Perhaps you could explain for everyone's benefit, which parts of the upgrade cycle are not just an upgrade that requires by necessity that suppliers like IQE upgrade their offerings, to stay in the race.

See, I can ask a question in a reasonable way.

Given the excitement about CS (some of it just tech. excitement I'm sure) ... how much of that is replacement stuff but at a higher price ?

Oclaro is a photonics customer and perhaps most importantly a very important partner of IQE's in the Cardiff Compound semiconductor cluster

It's comments on the continued vivacity of the 100G business is expected but welcome - it's just the beginning for this business folks and it can't be satiated at present and when it is we get 200 and then 400G

Here is Oclaro's statement :-)

Anaduck - welcome - tip - if you want to make a link work - change http to hTtp before you post and like magic it works, you can edit your post above and give it a go ;-)

Let's get back to IQE and the real world please

Our biggest customer-Skyworks reports tonight, the conference call notes will be most illuminating for us, giving the trends for the various markets our wafers are used for. The words I don't want to see are 'inventory correction' with Skyworks customers like Apple and Sammy. I don't expect it, but best be on the lookout

At present our wafers are mainly used in the front-end 'switching gear', in 3G and 4G smartphones, hopefully by next year and aided by our cREO IP we will be featuring in the filter component, that would double ( at least) our wireless income overnight. Increasing complexity and future innovations like 5G will demand CS throughout :-) ...so tripling our wireless revenues, that really would be the Golden Fleece.

Will do a brief summary of the CC transcript as relevant to us for the morning

lets face it we only invest in stocks that we think have a fighting chance of doubling over 12 months otherwise why bother for the odd 1p or so... So saying £10 by Christmas, is not very likely but in the scheme of things that is the type of investment we are all looking for.... Who wants just 10% a year when you can get 100% or 1000%?? (and lets face it you can from time to time)..

Now day trading is a different matter - all you want is the odd 1p or so..

My feeling is, given a good wind, IQE could double over 12 months. If it does not, its still a good company and will probably rise a few percent - so its a win win situation - touchwood, rabbits foot and spit three times..

Dear me, but there is a load of rubbish spouted on here with people over-analysing every single tick up and tick down. I am absolutely delighted that we've had a modest tick-down. My son got in at 37.65p this morning. Onwards and upwards. £10 by Christmas.

Yump go and find out yourself what you've invested in. Relying on bb to get investment decisions is a good way to loose money.

What kills threads is the asking of pretty straightforward questions and the lack of a straightforward answer by people who supposedly know all about the share. Which would help a lot more folk than just me.

Been like that for years on here, apart from a few shares that have posters who can cope with the pain of analysis rather than prose.
