SQM loses legal battles against Cosayach and Minera Copiapo

The Chilean minerals and fertiliser miner is battling against rival local producers to increase market share and had argued that its economic interests would be damaged by other projects, which have been allowed to proceed despite failure to fulfil all pertinent environmental criteria.

Chilean iodine, lithium and fertiliser producer Socieded Quimica y Minera (SQM) has lost two legal challenges in succession against projects planned by other mining companies in Chile, Business News Americas has reported.

A court in Santiago last week rejected SQM's environmental complaint against rival iodine producer, Cosayach, which has filed...

AGM 10TH June, they said 'about a month' for the hook up of io5, but explained it's down to waiting on the power supply company completing the work to get power to the location, the surveys were said to be complete.

So yes like Spike, I wouldn't rely on 30 days etc

The timing of the hook-up is totally outside of IOF's control. It would be unwise to assume the original 30 day estimate can be met.

Chris, I think you're right, all we can expect this month is that they have been able to consolidate on the improvement we saw last month. Happy to take things slowly so that expectations don't get out of hand. Plenty of time to let the reality of the bigger picture sink in.

Dig, agree on your figures and it would be great to hear that 5 is now linked. A teaser about forward planning, minis etc would be great but I do feel they need to 'eek out' the news so that we don't have these monthly 'gaps' where it feels as though nothing is happening even though I am sure that is far from the case.

This month might be a bit early for much good news but as long as we are progressing with 5 and 6 I'll be happy.

cyber, I think we've established that ANY sort of response including hints feeds his rather insane addiction for attention.

On to more important topics, as we should hopefully have another update in the next day or two I would be interested to hear what the consensus of opinion is regarding what we can expect.

Based on the last update it sounds as though there is a possibility of an increase at IOF2 and 4 whereas 3 may not perform too well due to increased fracking. So at best I would hope that production is around the same at 40mt.

Hopefully August's figures will be the ones to look forward to.

Anyone any other thoughts?
