Personally Mr B I think you have dropped more hints re IOF near future, than one of those tarts on the street 'dolled up' skint and hungry.

You can but try, such is the nature of the market, most sell on drops and buy on highs.

So for guys like you it makes easy pickings.

About a year ago there were quite a number of investment properties near me, all at far better prices than a year earlier, no one seemed to want them, fast-forward a year and higher prices than ever and they were snapped up. No one seems interested in the stock market when the 'sales' are on, which see's a complete reverse of that in the retail sector.

Thinking of 1000mt as a target, $20 mill profit plus $5m extra for every $5 per kg iodine goes up in the coming years.

Chile gov decisions could speed that process up. I'm more interested in the 150 litre per second rule at the moment, a small piece of the jigsaw the market ignores.

Some Chile producers will have the choice of reduce production or big capex with an opex increase. Algorta have a pipeline but need another to expand. SQM, Cosayach, Bullmine and Sirocco don't. SQM and Cos will definitely have to go for seawater if they want to maintain production levels. SQM obviously will or would have to dump most of their production.

It's no different to spotting the minor points as to why SQM would go backwards. things likes changing..........

'we are the lowest costs producer' to

'we are one of the lowest cost producers'.

The pipelines don't really affect copper producers as they have all been heading that way anyway. However it could seriously affect iodine producers. It would create a production cap of around 2500 mt it seems (from company data) or a choice to spend the money and watch margins get squeezed.

Common sense suggests they will all go the SQM/sirocco way and put everything on hold now until the price rises.

Algorta, Bullmine and Cosayach chased the high prices, and now the tide is out. trouble is being private companies, it's hard to see what they are wearing, but they have been unusually quiet. I'm still waiting for Algorta to explain how they are doing now at $10 per kg less than their $10m profit claims. If that was on 1000mt then they are break even now, in theory. They claimed they would do 3000mt this year.

The SQM pull back late last year, and lower prices have yet to reveal the impact it has had on the minor players.

On prices higher than now Ioditech said some smaller mines 'managed to stay open'

that was during $55 per kg prices.

Something has to give, SQM demonstrated their 'strength' by handing over customers and reducing production.

The inevitable will happen and prices will rise beyond these levels at some point.

A pity about Moyes, I was hoping he could hang on for about 3 more days. Before we play them at the weekend. The last thing we need (NCFC) is a reinvigorated M Utd.
Unless of course they take Hughton on as manager.

so one year on...and taking on board advice from DNRC...

Atlantis Water Project Update

Iofina, a specialist in the exploration and production of iodine and specialty chemical iodine derivatives, is pleased to provide the following update in respect of its Atlantis Water Project.

Based on initial responses from and discussions with the Montana Department of Natural Resource Conservation ("DNRC") Water Resources Office following their receipt of the Company's water right permit application, the Company has elected to amend its water permit application in an effort to expedite its plan to market 10,000 acre-feet per year (c.200,000 barrels per day) of freshwater in eastern Montana.

The possibility of needing to amend the original application was anticipated and envisioned as part of this process and the Company has decided to amend its application to expedite the application process. The Company's revised application is to develop a water depot for 3,800 acre-feet per year based on customers' needs at the current planned location. The Company has secured strategic locations for the first water pumping station and place of sale for its initial terminal and recently submitted an amended application to reflect this. The Company is actively acquiring additional strategically placed sites, based on demand and ease of transportation, for two additional depots that, together with the initial depot, will total over 10,000 acre-feet per year as planned.

Mr Big - Congratulations on your wealth. Looks like you'll soon be able to squander some more of it here.

Yes , it's interesting that the company hire a new director with all the right credentials to exploit the water rights issues ( if you read the company he consults for they are an ideal Jv partner - massive water division )
And everyone says give up !
It's highly amusing on every level - massive water shortage and iofina sitting on a literal mountain of water - of course this is going to a hearing !
Civil servants work in committees and shares blame for decisions .

Not forgetting of course the estimate is 35 billion barrels in the area IOF area.

10% recovery 3.5 billion barrels. 210 billion gallons. ND use for fracking 7 billion gallons last year.

So bring on a drought I say, as big and as vicious as it can be, as I believe the Fresno has a 500k bpd storage capacity.

It took 4 years to get that discharge permit, and all they would need to do is up the amount for more. In a drought situation the water bureau would be begging IOF to help them.

IOF could save the wildlife reserves and probably get gov funding to do it (as 2003 cost a fortune to sort the issue). All the action for oil is downstream of the relevant reserves.

Not wishing doom on Montana or ND as drought is unlikely for them, but if it does appear ................

I would add that people like shonny are potentially doing a great job for the likes of Mr Big, encouraging people to sell whilst Mr Big and friends sit there, waiting for the stock to roll into their portfolios.
