If I had to guess I'd say there are some buyers today who don't fancy being out over the 4 day weekend: not with the potential for positive water news to arrive at any time.

I know I'm basically trotting out that well worn bb ramp: 'I wouldn't want to be out of this one over the weekend', but if the shoe fits....

Quick post from me as work commitments mean I can't spend time staring at my screen - over on L2 it would appear we have someone looking to pick up large (ish) blocks of shares.......for a change we have a 25k man sitting on the Bid at 67p and at 65p.

I like Chumbo, it has a certain ring to it. If said with bombastic gusto it would be a worthy war cry of the Masai for example, although i think they just herd things, but you know what i mean.

Agreed, VMH should definitely get the best avatar name award.

Not sure. Don't like mine either ("inherited" it)

VMH is probably the most impressive on here. Spoonerisms appeal to my base sense of humour.

Chumbo, someone had already got Boggie, which was what my nickname was shortened to!

Is it possible to change ones avatar name or must i create a new one? I could always do a prince and have "Bogweed formerly known as Bogg1e".

SG cheers, well its ticked up since my purchase so hopefully Ive timed it right!

Bogg

Late yesterday the supply seemed to tighten up on level 2 (commented on yesterday).

The follow on being a question over whether the recent supply has gone, and that today may give an indicator. Going on volumes so far and little action it seems it may have dried up or is drying up.

We'll see as the day goes on. I think some were hoping for lower than mid 60's due to that unknown supply.

You should have used it as your avatar. You probably wouldn't have needed to put a 1 in it!

Well, i was hoping for mid sixties before buying back in and have been waiting for the drop to stabilise. I have slightly nervously topped up at 67p, slightly higher than hoped, anyhow good luck chaps and cheers SG for the Chilean stuff.

Mister Big, having SS as a nick name is nothing to be proud of. The only nick name possibly worse would be jimmy saville. My nickname at school was Bogweed. Nice.

Some in the sector think iodine will be $70 per kg some time in 2015.

I think more like $55 to $60.

That iodine market report completed by the experts has got a lot wrong re expansion. We said here SQM would start to back off to protect the price with $45 as their bottom line.

That was v their claims of huge expansion at the time and $400m to $600m of spending.

The experts say iodine flat price, but also suggest this is the bottom.

The usual chirpy Chile lot, who made lots of big claims last year, have been very quiet so far this year.

I'm waiting to see if Algorta report their 'profits' this time around. Margins should be very tight based on the last info they put out.

Interesting Super, Poll: 74% of Chileans want mining companies to pay higher taxesCecilia Jamasmie | April 9, 2014A vast majority of Chileans, 74% to be exact, believe mining companies should pay higher taxes and that those funds should be allocated to the regions where mining operations are based, reveals a survey conducted by pollster MORI and the country's Catholic University.

I think the hinting recently says it all, and some should look at what is going on elsewhere in the sector. I do every day and there is a lot you can pick up on from doing that.

E.G.

A very recent comment, it paints a picture of why the strikes and protests go on. SQM and others say 'nothing to see here' but as usual it's BS.

In the mining sector, companies like SQM complaint, the day of the earthquake did not create the conditions for its workers being moved from site to their homes, and also the day after the fact forced to raise workers to meet their shifts , even moving their staff not authorized to transport workers also practice by Minera Cosayach roads.

oh a quick tip, if you use search terms in Spanish you can generally turn up a lot more info

All this was reported to the White Minister during his recent visit to Iquique, noting that all reported cases have in common the lack of judgment, but deepening that this lack is allowed in the case of decrees disaster areas due to that this legislation leaves everything to the discretion of the employer and also empowers, not paying wages, hours extend, terminate the employment relationship citing art. 159 fortuitous event or force majeure, leaving the incomplete defenseless workers. It is for this situation to change and asking for an end to poverty picture in which today are all workers of Tarapaca.

mister big - 19135: Pump and dump! I love the theories on this site. I founded brightside in 2000 - the clarification note related to transferring shares to my wife!......As for iofina - simple , have followed the story from the beginning and feel it's heading in the right direction......everyone seems to have forgotten water permit and the value of Atlantis field.....it's a reality check to see the plants and realise for the first time all five are pumping iodine......As for shinny comments on a 1p a day , it says something about the way his mind works

I never stated that pump & dump was in play here - just making people aware that it is a potential tactic that is sometimes also employed elsewhere...the AIM rules clearly require anybody with an above threshold shareholding to report a purchase, sale or transfer of stock (even to relatives) which you did not do hence the company RNS about your shareholding on 29/1/13.......I'm quite mindful, as I'm sure others are too, of the upcoming water permits and the developing production capacity........and as for shonny, why feed a cyber troll by responding and giving them the attention that they are seeking since it just encourages them to post even more.

Think long and hard before you let the insti's or the Mr Big's of this world pick up your shares for a song. Once results are out of the way the market will start to look forward to 2014 not back to 2013. We have 5 plants in production, one on the way, mobiles planned for later in the year. The daily swings are noise the chart will turn as the fundamentals improve and are conveyed to the market. It's all about the Business Plan. If you want to make money hang on to the coat tails of the bigger fish or those in the know. ;-)

Pump and dump ! I love the theories on this site .
I founded brightside in 2000, built a company valued at 120m , from a desk and two telephones and sold the stake after I left in a boardroom disagreement over strategy . The clarification note related to transferring shares to my wife !
So in short shares held for 11 years and then sold when I left . I considered buying the company back but decided to carry on with own private insurance business which by the way employs all the top talent from brightside !

As for iofina - simple , have followed the story from the beginning and feel it's heading in the right direction . As for shinny comments on a 1p a day , it says something about the way his mind works . A bid may occur tomorrow and the share price might be £1.25!

Thoroughly enjoying my fix of iodine related information !
Quite apart , from the iodine prospects everyone seems to have forgotten water permit and the value of Atlantis field .

Ps - was checking out new photos on website - it's a reality check to see the plants and realise for the first time all five are pumping iodine !
