Oh dear the share price has gone into reverse again. So much for the rampers morning euphoria.

Right on cue, SHONNY posts just as the share price gets a second wind...

Whilst looking at Water Depots, (Western Area Water Supply, Armstrong Water Solutions etc) I came across this video which amused me but it does however give an idea of the water requirements during a fracking operation. If you consider the number of wells which will require fracking you can imagine the huge number of vehicles and water which will be required.

I seem to remember the cost for a water terminal to be around the half million dollar mark. But that could have been for the whole permit, in this instance it would be for the 3 terminals. Not sure but I would have thought one application for one terminal. the other sites that they have identified would be for follow on applications. either way, it's looking better and more importantly we look like we will have a rather large water business. Bobsworth,
Correcting your maths re shares in issue, and leaving everything else unchanged gives eps of 29.56p @ pe of 30 = £8.87.
But PLEASE don't get attached to that figure. But it does illustrate the potential for the NON CORE parts of the business.
Rather than get carried away with water, I'd like to hear that #4 and #5 are up and running, and contributing.
But it appears we are heading in the right direction again.

Put in iodine terms and opex for cold water, $40k per day from water in terms of profit, is the same as an iodine plant of around 550mt.

It was nice to note the cross border water 'issue' is not the case, it's allowed, although IOF have never suggested it would go that way, under the rules it can.

So far the Bakken action is just a small portion of the amount of wells there are expected to be over the coming years.

Each well can be reworked many times during it's lifetime, I've seen quotes of up to ten times.

Then there is the maintenance water of around 5k barrels per year, which involves the daily salt build up wash out. For every 5000 wells active in the future, that adds 1 billion gallons to the yearly demand.

If you look at recent data they just passed the 10,000 well figure, so if right, maintenance water will be on the 2 billion gallons point this year.

Bob shaver predicted 3 billion gallons use just for fracking in 2013, but it ended up at 5 billion.

They expect 30k to 50k wells over the coming years.

The 3 forks interest has yet to seriously take off but it is known the oil there doubles the area's oil reserves.

So for Eastern Montana, where drilling is active and plenty of 3 forks to extend it, IOF look like the first major mover.

Not that I am expecting the application to be as big as 200,000 barrels a day to begin with but here's a quick summary on likely revenue/profit/shareprice on a 200,000 barrels per day application:

1. Barrel of water in USA sells for $1 cold and $2 hot.
2. Assume they sell 50:50 hot and cold the average price is $1.5 a barrel of water
3. Costs to produce a barrel is just $0.20 ( Oil/Gas companies send their tankers to Iofina water depot to load up and transport back, hence low costs for Iofina)
4. Profit per barrel of water = $1.3 = £0.79
5. Annual Profits on 200,000 barrels per day = 200,000 x 365 x 0.79 = £57,889,000
6. Annual profit after tax (35% in USA) = £37,627,850
7. Earnings Per Share on 293,000,000 shares = 0.13
8. Share price on a Price/Earnings of 30 (typical for a fast growing company like Iofina) = 0.13 x 30 = £3.85

I had that down as a total Naph, because if I remember correctly there will be 3 water depots built to allow for multiple out take points, as and when more permits are awarded.

I thought shorters provided you rampers with supply when there was none?

They just took a bet that bad news would hammer this stock to pieces, and won.

You did the hard selling, not shorters... you lost the bet.

Get over it and stop posting rubbish.

Mr Lucas - and the winners were???? Ennismore???? Not until they start closing. They had opportunities down to 70p or so - so there 20% off since then. Of course I realise you will have closed your short at that 70p mark and have gone long. Genius. So where do you see IOF and the price going now???? Any Shonny like predictions as the price fell toward 70p on Friday afternoon last:

Iofina - IOF

I see we're on track for my 70p close. Probably lower at this rate.

The price immediately reversed and hasn't looked back since.

Unless Ennismore already have an avenue for closing their nicely profitable position, I can't see too much more negativity for them to buy into over the coming weeks....

Iofina (LON:IOF) has described as "encouraging" its water rights meeting with the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC).

It now has 60 days to "provide clarity" on an addendum submitted alongside revised letters of intent related to its water rights application.

The project is described as "non-core" to Iofina's main activity of building and operating plants that extract iodine from brine water.

The update follows a meeting with the DNRC last week.

Chief executive George Lantz told investors: "The ongoing dialogue with the DNRC is encouraging and Iofina will continue to collaborate with the DNRC with the aim of achieving a successful outcome.

"The board is confident in its ability to meet requests brought forth in its January 30 meeting as well as any further requests that may arise in the interim."

Josh,

I don't have my notes to hand but there are videos on the web showing existing pumping stations.

Basically you need a large pump (actually the more pumps the better for reliability)and filter(s) to suck the water out and send it to the filling station (only a matter of meters away I would suspect). Then a filling station with metering facilities for the road tankers. The ones shown on the web have no made-up roads even. All basic stuff.
