My original question was prompted by the comment made on the site posted by worraps on comment 15681, but that is irrelevant now. Mind you, getting this permit is like pulling teeth!

Taking just 40k barrels of water per day, on cold water gives a conversative estimate of £8M profit. On a PE of 20 a share price of £1.26 on just one water permit. Excluding further water permits and Iodine profits.

"confident..".....after last couple of months that has been a missing ingredient from Iofina....looking good (not forgetting non core....)

Commenting on today's news, Iofina's Chief Executive George Lantz commented:

"The ongoing dialogue with the DNRC is encouraging and Iofina will continue to collaborate with the DNRC with the aim of achieving a successful outcome. The Board is confident in its ability to meet requests brought forth in its 30th January meeting as well as any further requests that may arise in the interim."

Iofina has been granted up to 60 days from the meeting date to provide clarity to its addendum, presented at the meeting alongside revised letters of intent, and address any further questions from the DNRC accordingly.

RNS Non-Core Water Project Update

3 February 2014

Iofina plc.

("Iofina" or the "Group")

(LSE AIM: IOF)

Non-Core Water Project Update

Pursuant to the Group's statements issued on 13th and 23rd December 2013, Iofina, specialists in the exploration and production of iodine and iodine specialty chemical derivatives, provides the market today with an update following its 30th January 2014 meeting with the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation ("DNRC") regarding its review of the Group's non-core water rights application.

The Board is pleased to announce that the DNRC has determined that the requested amount of water is both physically and legally available and that there would be no adverse effect at the point of diversion due to the engineering and design consideration outlined in the engineering study.

The Board reports that Iofina has been granted up to 60 days from the meeting date to provide clarity to its addendum, presented at the meeting alongside revised letters of intent, and address any further questions from the DNRC accordingly. Once the final addendum and revised letters of intent have been completed and submitted to the DNRC, the State of Montana will either approve or deny the application. In the event of approval there is a 30 day notice period for a public hearing. In the event the application is denied the Group would request an immediate administrative hearing. The Board will update the market in due course.

It's an option, if the size of the permit worries the water bureau, then yes they can issue a reduced amount, as stated on their site.

85-2-312. Terms of permit. (1) (a) The department may issue a permit for less than the amount of water requested, but may not issue a permit for more water than is requested

So if you heard that, it is a possibility.

I was looking at the numbers re what a permit of that size actually means and it is sizeable.

I also note that John Ames has a number of depots, in ND and Montana, but generally for small amounts and many of those are groundwater.

Groundwater is seriously out of favour with the authorities as aquifers take a long time to recover. In fact Halliburton did a piece on the subject regarding groundwater permit applications, in which they suggested success for those on any scale, is unlikely.

I think superg was hinting at it at some point recently, by reminding us that IOF had requested a very large output amount. I took it from that remark that they may not get it, or at least it may require further investigation by the authorities, or further negotiation. But if they have to concede a lower figure, but then get the permit, that's fine by me. A permit is better than no permit.

If the rumours and suggestions in the share-knowledge article prove to hold some substance, then I think we may have a better week. Let's hope so!

For those interested in charts, tradesmarter has done a chart for IOF on fingers' thread (FXD) and reckons "think this now gives a potential bounce area". Post 6495.

bryproj, as they have started selling excess iodine from IO1-3 (not prilled), then the answer has to be yes.

from one of the presentations CF suggested India would be looking for 1600tpa. I think that was for crystal, not 100% sure though. Also from presentations some existing derivatives customers would be interested in buying crystal. So I don't think there will be a pressing need to have a prilling facility this year. it would just increase the potential customer base. aimho

Jointer do you know that there is the demand for IOF 1-6 iodine prior to the prilling tower being constructed?

a few facts.

a year or so ago we were buying in iodine for our chem division.

fact-we are producing iodine with our patented technology.

fact-we supply our chem division with iodine.

fact-we sell iodine.

this is before io3 is up to scale. we then have io4 and io5 coming on line by the end of this month.

io6 groundworks/base in. build start/started anytime now.

io7,io8 io9 to be built this year, and maybe a few mobiles.

prilling tower 2ndH

=cash machine

looking quite promising.

this is just iodine. but we have a few more strings to our bow.

don't listen to the idiots/derampers who are starting to sound deperate spreading their poison.

roll on the rollouts!!!

"SHONNY 31 Jan'14 - 14:18 - 15654 of 15673 2 0

I see we're on track for my 70p close. Probably lower at this rate."

Told late in day at the low, within minutes the share takes off and finishes on a high.

That was a pleasing finish to the day.
I would have thought everyone who was going to sell would have done so by now.
There also may have been some who we're trying to scare holders out of their positions at the start of trading.
They may have thought that with no water news and down start to the day may have encouraged a few to sell
All regulars would know that water news was not expected today, as pointed out earlier by SG
We must be at or near the bottom and with a very conservative brokers note suggesting we are headed for £1.56, it looks a good time to buy in or top up.

It was almost a shock reversal this afternoon. It must be close to the point where those who have wanted out have moved on.

Let's hope they are working their butts off on getting 4&5 running ASAP.

tsmith2: agree. Re news can't be iodine, as too close to last plants RNS and even news on contracts won't be released imo. Unlikely to be water as just too quick for Montana. Might possibly be oil though, JV or otherwise.

Boggle: agree. Wouldn't like to test 70 again though :-) Afaics nothing but good news in Feb, and if so Ennis will have to change their thinking.
