27/6/2006 08:34 | Broker told me - however having looked at financial timetable I have to admit I cannot see what they would be announcing so will go back and check. Possibly what he meant was that an update was expected shortly | 59david
27/6/2006 07:49 | 59david - where do u see a reference that the results are today? I cannot find anything. The chart is at an interesting place...just monitoring for now. | nirvs

21/6/2006 17:17 | (Another recent 'Daily Telegraph' article) Ideal Shopping Direct A number of factors are working in the favour of Ideal Shopping Direct, the Aim-listed television shopping retailer, that could lead to strong profit growth in the coming years. Firstly, more and more households are signing up for digital TV and this is giving television shopping greater acceptance. On an operational level Ideal Shopping is in good shape. Analysts expect pre-tax profits for the year to the end of December to be £8.9m, rising to £10.3m next year. Sales last year were £80m. The company's production costs are more or less fixed so sales growth - 12 per cent over the first 17 weeks of this year - is increasingly dropping straight through to the bottom line. The retailer has strong management led by Jim Hodkinson, the retail veteran who also chairs Wyevale Garden Centres. Earlier this month, the company bought Superstore TV, a wholesaler which sources products from the Far East to UK retailers such as Asda, the supermarket. Ideal recently took prompt action to close its Jewellery Vault channel which lost £500,000 last financial year. Later this year, the company will be launching a trial venture selling Next-branded goods on its channels. Ideal Shopping trades on a price earnings ratio of 15 times this year, falling to 13 times next year. This is a discount to the retail sector average of around 16 times. BUY. | radarlove
08/6/2006 10:38 | 'SHARES MAGAZINE' (8th June): "The acquisition of Superstore TV for a mere £1.5 million could, according to Richard Ratner of Seymour Pierce, boost Ideal Shopping's operating profits by £1.5m. Superstore provides the group with the scope to increase margins significantly thanks to its expertise in sourcing goods from the Far East - especially China - where it has a purchasing office. Direct sourcing via Superstore could improve Ideal's margins by 'up to 2,500 basis points,' reckons Ratner. There is also scope for further cost savings from closing the company's Manchester office. Ideal also unveiled a closure of its loss-making Jewellery Vault channel which was losing over £500,000 a year. This has prompted Ratner to up his 2007 profit forecast to £10.3m, While Rob Brent, retail analyst at KBC Peel, is more optimistic, pencilling in £11.2m for next year. His 500p share price target also implies over 45% upside from the current 344p." | radarlove
06/6/2006 12:54 | takeover target I'm sure would see this go for £7.50 min. | powwow

02/6/2006 18:09 | I spoke today with Ideal Shopping CEO, Andrew Fryatt, and he had some interesting news on the 'Next' trials. The 10 shows are now over and both companies will be sitting down shortly to review their 'experiment'. There is a good chance that 'Next' will continue working with IDS in the future. As Andrew explained, "It has been a learning curve for both companies concerned. The fashion shows went particularly well. It is now a case of deciding what is the best way forward." Another high street brand name are close to signing a deal with IDS for a similar sales approach. This should occur within the next two weeks. Andrew was reluctant to offer the company name. | radarlove
02/6/2006 16:49 | this must be a takeover target and with two big holders it could lead to a bidding war. if not i hope fidelity and artmis keep buying. the skys the limit | pastyman3851
01/6/2006 15:22 | Any views from people on this acquisition? | radarlove
23/5/2006 17:02 | Fidelity just cannot stop buying! Shop til' you drop boys.:) They are now the largest shareholder and have overtaken Artemis. | radarlove
22/5/2006 10:39 | powwow, It won't be long now before we find out how the 'Next' trials went. If positive then I reckon this will be the trigger to send the share price back upwards again. FTSE testing the bottom of its upward trendline today. Will it hold? An interesting week ahead! Warren Buffet believes the blood-letting is soon to end and has trumpeted he is presently picking up the bargains. | radarlove
19/5/2006 14:23 | I agree though I'd say a sign of a stable company, stock witj nice steady growth | powwow
17/5/2006 15:33 | Fidelity keeps piling up the shares. Surely, a confident sign. | radarlove
12/5/2006 08:09 | seems like I was ok to get out when I did for now.. will go back up for sure, its the usual summer lulls after the april sell out. Come back in sept I'd say for this and many other stocks. | powwow
10/5/2006 15:42 | Radar, Prewar, yes it is the case that there are limited number of channels that can be handled at the moment. I do know that anyone who has a chanel slot who may go bust, can actuallly sell their slot at a premium I think. Anyway I think this explains why the new channel is not on freeview, tho the company should be able to confirm this. | powwow
09/5/2006 19:40 | radar It is a strength of IDS but also a weakness, it just depends what price they have to pay for the rent review in 2008. | prewar
09/5/2006 15:56 | prewar, Thanks for that info, I didn't know about the restrictive bandwidth for 'Freeview'. This places IDS in a strong position. To cheer ourselves up, the company are dishing out their dividend payments on Thursday. | radarlove
09/5/2006 15:50 | It's true the cost of transmission for satellite is relatively cheap compared to Freeview. That's why you get loads of small channels on sky where the fees are small but conversely there's more competition and potentially fewer viewer coverage. Freeview is restricted by the amount of channels you can cram into the available frequency bandwidth | prewar
09/5/2006 15:48 | powwow, I am not clear whether 'Jewellery Vault' is a part of 'Ideal World' or something completely separate? My understanding is that the next rental review for IDS is not until 2008. That they signed a 5 year contract with 'Freeview' back in 2003. Therefore, one presumes, the contract was very much in Ideal Shopping's favour. Come 2008 it may not be! :) Well, the share price is now touching the bottom of its short term upward trendline. Let's see what the MMs do next. | radarlove
09/5/2006 11:00 | I'm not sure radar, but I was once told a while back that there was a certain number of channels allowed on the freeview system, would need to confirm though. Also to sign up on freeview and have a channel its very very expensive, more expensive than sky so I've been told. I know this because a mate of mine runs a shopping/bidding tv channel on sky and freeview. They are also now looking at people like homechoice to promote thir channel, maybe ids will too. | powwow
06/5/2006 20:32 | prewar, Not sure about 'Jewellery Vault' and Sky. I presumed it was on Freeview only. A little disappointing about this news. Is there already too much competition? Surely, jewellery sells well via TV shopping. I constantly see it selling on the Sky shopping channels. For me, it is essential that the 'Next' trials are successful and other high street brands jump on-board. How else can IDS keep up their fast growth track. I aim to contact Andrew Fryatt again in late May/early June. The company should know the verdict by then. | radarlove
06/5/2006 18:49 | radar re your earlier post i'm sure there are people who churn from freeview to sky. I think the opposite could be true. It'll be interesting to see what the football deal does for sky's share price and subscriber figures. Look slike Setanta will be using top-up tv (on freeview) to show some of their games. Not sure whether this will impact Freeviews subscribers or not. On a separate note is this jewellery vault on sky only? | prewar
04/5/2006 18:21 | artful dodger, I wouldn't say over one million shares traded today as being modest. The highest volume for well over a month. I agree with you about the technicals. The next few weeks should be interesting. We just need to hear some good news about the 'Next' trials and that, in my view, will be the trigger to send it back up to 400. Fingers crossed! | radarlove |
