This is confusing. The offer document I received from AJ Bell says you need to accept shares by 20th August 2024 but some have received (Staff I believe) acceptances had to be accepted today?
Seems weird - does anyone have the same date ie. 20/08/24 ?

This is looking alot more likely to go ahead as DK is placating the Government and Unions and major shareholders aren't saying much despite they cries of low valuations when they bid was first announced.
I don't think the Labour Government want's to be stuck with RM and it's militant Union either.

Closed my position for a modest profit as I think the government could revisit this.

cherryandwhite1,

ADVFN find the middle of the buy and sell price and allocate trades to one or the other.

If the buy and sell price are 323 and 324 then a buy at 323.4 would be recorded as a sell and equally a sell at 323.6 would go down as a buy.

From the figure you quote I assume you are talking about yesterday so I will explain those figures.

Buys were recorded as 493425 and Sells as 526537, a difference of 33.112 which is easily explained by the "best guess" approach taken by all reporting platforms.

As every buy is also a sell by at least one seller it is not possible to accurately record every trade.

eg. A buyer who wants 5.000 could be matched with sellers who are trading 2,000 another selling 1538 and a third who wants to sell 1,623. The first two sellers in the queue would have their order fulfilled but the third would have 1,462 allocated to this trade and the remaining 161 matched to the next buyer.

The figures you used included 821,601 which was the end of day "UT" or Uncrossing Trade where all outstanding trades are put into auction to match as many as possible before closing trading for the day.

UT - Uncrossing Trade: A trade where buyers on the bid and sellers on the ask match together in a single trade, such as at the end of an auction period.

Hope that explains it for you.

cherryandwhite,

All the main investment banks are buying and selling these on a daily basis and have been since the bid was launched.

They publish their trades every day (hence the huge number of RNSs every day) This only proves that if the buys match the sells then the share price goes nowhere. When the balance is higher on the sell side or the buy side, the price goes down or up.

This is how the market works.

Its like watching paint dry. Just proves the market can hold the price where it wants to anytime they like.

Labour an ideal candidate to end up holding the baby that is RM and, in a game of pass the parcel, the public carrying it.

Labour are campaigning as the party for business and need growth to pay for their manifesto promises.

Growth requires investment, which is almost always foreign investment, so it is unimaginable that they would block the first deal that lands on their table on Friday morning.

All IMHO,

I think Kretinsky would have done plenty of due diligence here and spoken to both sides to get their thoughts. I can't believe he would have gone to this trouble if it was in any doubt at all. And the sweetners that have been handed out to the various professional services to get this deal done and dusted. Also I can't Imagine starmer wants Dave Wards smoking gun constantly pointed at his head with impossible demands.

Really? I don't think any other Country has sold off so many National infrastructure assets as the UK.
We may believe in a free market but plenty of other Countries that to actually don't!

The Unions seem to be deciding everything here or at least they think they are!

I think if it gets blocked our market based economy will be in tatters. No one would trust us again. If ids was that important it should never have been sold in the first place.

It needs 75% approval by shareholders which we must assume crosses that line with Institutional support, so PI have not really got a say. At 90% it's compulsory purchase. I see no reason to sell now unless you need the money?
