• In August 2014, Group traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres increased by 8.7 per cent versus August 2013; Group capacity measured in Available Seat Kilometres rose by 9.5 per cent.

STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENTS

British Airways and Iberia have jointly launched a new product which allows customers to hold a reservation and a fare for up to 72 hours before deciding to purchase tickets. It applies to bookings for all flights operated by British Airways, Iberia, Iberia Express and Air Nostrum. The new scheme is designed to give travellers the time to make sure they're happy with their flight choices before paying.

On 1 September, Iberia resumed its flights between Madrid and Montevideo as well as Santo Domingo. The airline is offering four weekly services to the Uruguayan capital and five flights per week to the capital of the Dominican Republic. Iberia operates more than 200 weekly flights between Madrid and 16 Latin American destinations.

we should see some support at 351-353 level, and then around
340-343 level over the next 10-days.

This share is unlikely to outperform FTSE - as we regularly get bad
news on the airline industry. Lower oil price is not helping
either.

The Iceland is not exactly new news -- but still we may get a small (less than 5p) drop on this "orange" alert. Should be all cleared up by early September.

Iceland has issued a red alert to the aviation industry for the Bardarbunga volcano, meaning significant ash emissions are likely.

Important thing is Bank Holiday out of way before long, last year it was virtually nuclear war against the Syrians over chemical attacks on its own people which hammered airline stocks, now an Icelandic volcano. By all accounts the magma flows are moving horizontally rather than about to pop out the top, so big eruption into sky unlikely!

Expecting sentiment to be hit hard here tomorrow, that volcano is heating up quicker than they thought.

I remember last time, a real chase for the gates after denial.

The Icelandic volcano could have an impact on the share price, in proportion to the size of any eruption.
If any future eruption is a major event then it will provide a good buying opportunity. Before that you can guarantee the shorts will nail it at the first hint of an ash cloud or even a slightly dark sky would probably do it.

very quiet here..........

Options expiry on Friday 15th went well........ I am now looking to open short positions around 348p. I have plenty of long positions, so will offload 25% between 350-355p. I expect strong resistance/support at 360p and 320p for the next 4-6 weeks.

Another 10p move in either direction will be good.

I didn't get chance to go short at 335p today or close any longs. Let's see if we can get a 10+ move tomorrow.

another 10p rise into mid-day. I have closed off all the long positions for August options expiry this Friday.

Will do further trades if we touch either 335p or 314p..... otherwise, it will be a quiet week for me.

I still expect a lot of volatility in Aug/Sept/October months. Too early to say that we are done with 300p level re-test.
