12/5/2020 10:46 | If flights start in July and they expect a reasonable 40% capacity - with the only thing preventing people booking would be loss of income rather than lack of desire - and upwards from there, with restructuring of contract changes meaning no more legacy contracts and effective cost saving put in place, I can see 2021 being a year of profit.I've not tended to follow panic overselling and it's done well for me so far. I'm not selling - like I've said I've loaded up some more and in for the long term. If they fold, then so be it - but I currently have offsetted the drop in price with IAG with others in my portfolio that have since gone up a lot so I'm not actually losing out. | carter633

12/5/2020 09:14 | spob speaketh the truth. Air France bailout was loans. Extra debt to cover trading losses. All comes out of shareholders' hide. Carter633 and the many like you 'oh it has gone down a lot so must be good value', what if there has been a fundamental negative change? Carbon-farting virus taxis no longer a desirable business in previous scale? IAG net assets were £7 bn at 31 December 2019, £6 bn at 31 March 2020. What do you think net assets at 31 March 2021 will be? When you have written the number down on a piece of paper, including the minus sign, reflect for a few moments then salvage 57% of your investment [=178p/312p] and SELL SELL SELL. Do something useful with that 57% and once a month look at the sliding IAG price toward 5p by July 2021 and be thankful. You are welcome. All imho. DYOR. | ![]() silkstag

12/5/2020 08:47 | Only way I can see this surviving is a government bail out Which means the airline continues after the virus, but shareholders get Zilch | ![]() spob
12/5/2020 08:45 | ...and unreasonable pessimism leads to potential bargains. I've loaded up and dropped my average to just 312p now (still a way off from the current price but I'm happy with that alongside risk) | carter633 |
