Walsh will keep paying special dividends, rather then buybacks because of the shareholding rule, over 6 billion in cash sitting there. IAG could become a great income stock coming years.

toon....the 3.23m is substantially up on profits for 2017 and above estimates. So another year of the same , is acceptable as far as I am concerned. Especially if it provides another special dividend of a similar amount in 2020.

Form 210 and a certificate from HMRC I would have thought. I bet something worked out by July, they are holding back to make life easier, after the outcome of Brexit I reckon. I worked out 36p net of Spanish tax we receive in July. Of course if we can claim works out about 44p. Only my calculations roughly.
Still guys I'm happy with 36p net, nice. Ex Div date 4th July, payable 4 days later 8th July.

There seem to be one or two people on this forum who are completely ignoring IAG's forward guidance which was flat and I quote "As far as 2019 is concerned, at current fuel prices and exchange rates, the group expects operating profit before exceptional items and impacts of IFRS16 to be broadly in line with the €3.23bn reported in 2018."

has anyone successful claimed back the Spanish withholding tax.
3 years ago I contacted the tax agent suggested on IAG website and got this response in December 2015: "We would be pleased to help but I am afraid we do not currently have a reliable process for reclaiming Spanish withholding tax on dividend payments. This is because the UK registrars are currently unable to generate the specific documentation required by the Spanish tax authorities to claim the refund.
We are currently investigating this and monitoring the arrangements that HMRC may put in place as a result of the changes to the tax payable on dividends to be implemented from April this year.
Once a system for reclaims is in place it will be possible to go back up to four years so we suggest you keep an eye on our website and we will make an announcement if we can establish a reliable and cost-effective process to reclaim this tax."

Contacted again this morning and got this response

"Sadly, the position is unchanged from that of three years ago.

We have made a number of unsuccessful efforts to resolve the issues and we are currently in the process of arranging a meeting with the tax office in Madrid to see if we can get this ironed out once and for all. However, at the time of writing, I am sorry to say that the situation and the message is the same as it was three years ago. Hopefully the coming months will see some progress."

If any progress I'll post but it's not as simple as filling out a form 210

You said they'd have all sold by this morning and the price would fly. Was tempted to buy in at current price but will hang fire in case they go lower this month due to Brexit jitters in Parliament. If I miss out, so be it.

Its very important to understand why we are not 695p, we were 662p 6 days ago, with those figures 695p easily, but MSCI spoilt the party only until Wednesday, lol

Does not matter short term until tracker fund forced sellers out the way, price going nowhere. I reckon about next Wednesday, they should have finished. Shame they will miss the 50.5c dividend, lol.

Someone said roughly 300m euros in IAG by those tracker funds don't know if that correct. So forced sellers of course, always new buyers. Analyst on CNBC said yesterday is a buy for a year 3 to 5 year view.Market makers know when a forced seller, it's like shooting fish in a barrel, keep price low, get them out the way, up we go. LolI expect analyst upgrades to start coming through.

The MSCI situation has to reduce the total pool of buyers so this has to be a bad thing overall in the long term. The share price should recover a bit when the MSCI tracker funds have completed selling their IAG shares. But overall in the long term the MSCI situation will have a long term negative effect due to the reduced pool of buyers.

Today 1st March, IAG out of the MSCI Spanish index. Forced tracker sellers, probably last day, which keeping a lid on shareprice rise, so hopefully next week guys back to higher shareprice 695p my short term target. 662p six days ago, before these excellent figures.

Like I said, we were 662p 6 days ago, then MSCI came out with dropping IAG, creating reluctant forced sellers for tracker funds. Otherwise I'm convinced IAG would be 695p. Record profits. 142c eps incredible.Special dividend and 14% per cent increase in final dividend.I bet the tracker funds unhappy. Lol
