13/4/2018 15:54 | Chief I wasn't suggesting that IAG buy EZJ. By saying 'target', I meant as a company that might be encouraged to 'join' the IAG group. Walsh is cleverly creating a 'One World' Star Alliance' type conglomerate of individual airline brands that benefit from being part of the same 'umbrella' organisation. Qatar has bought into the idea without IAG having to buy Qatar and there is no reason why others should not do the same. I am not convinced yet, that Walsh will buy Norwegian, unless it is for a good price. It is after all a failing business model and a company that is losing money. I haven't yet looked into the NAV of Norwegian and would be interested to know what it is if anyone else has this info. I suspect that the slots, aircraft orders and existing fleet may be of more interest to Walsh than the actual business itself. After all, IF he could buy it , it might provide an instant fleet expansion for level. | m1k3y1
13/4/2018 15:31 | No chance IAG going for EZJ (imo). EZJ half the value of IAG (EZJ highly rated by the markets, IAG not). Too much for shareholders to swallow. As a holder of both i wouldn't want it either lol. Norwegian, hmm, maybe. Not so sure. Over a billion for a company not yet making a profit.IAG should have tied in with one of the Asian airlines. Massive growth over there. | chiefbrody
13/4/2018 14:56 | I see that some of the newspapers are already calling for a competition enquiry into IAG potentially buying Norwegian. I find this interesting because, although IAG as a group might have a positive commercial position, what I believe people are overlooking, is the fact that IAG is not an airline and does not hold an AOC. It is just a holding company and as such, as long as it maintains separate brands, may well not fall into competition concerns. | m1k3y1
13/4/2018 12:42 | Agreed again !!! | m1k3y1
13/4/2018 12:37 | Apart from overpaying himself of course :-) | jailbird
13/4/2018 12:30 | Agreed jailbird. Also doubt that Walsh will overpay for anything ! | m1k3y1
13/4/2018 12:06 | Geopolitical issues are always potentially a risk to airlines. IAG is cash rich....BA's pension scheme is closing and this will save BA and the group and extra 300-400m a year. IAG is in a good place to ride out any geopolitical turbulence | jailbird
13/4/2018 11:54 | The danger being that IAG pay too much for Norwegian, we'd certainly be paying over the odds for EZJ. Markets hate uncertainty, we now face months of uncertainty as to whether IAG will attempt a take over. Also, Syria is another concern, the war of words shall continue, lets hope that things don't escalate into all out war! Not sure where the share price shall go short term. | neilrich
13/4/2018 11:33 | Unlikely IMO. Norwegian is losing money at the moment. Without a bid from IAG it will continue to lose money, risking another , lower bid, or no bid at all. The only benefit here to IAG must be from group synergies and slot values. Of course there is also the benefit of taking out a competitor BUT is it worth spending 1.2B to do it ? The one I am keeping my other eye on is EZJ, now that would be a good target for IAG. | m1k3y1
13/4/2018 08:51 | Or make IAG pay a fuller price for a full takeover. Norwegian completed two equity raises in March raising a total of NOK 1.5bn (£138m). IAG is now giving credibility to Norwegian, which the company lacked before, and this may allow Norwegian to make further equity issues at a much higher price." | broadwood
