Seems a glut of pilots, Walsh trump card. That's why they called off strikes.

GIVE US A REST MONTY

THERES NO SUBSTANCE IN YOUR VIEWS

YET YOU CONTINUE TO SPEW OUT YOUR UNSUPPORTED OPINIONS

NOTHING SUBSTANTIATED

I for one is more interested in whether to BUY SELL OR HOLD

At present i feel its a BUY unless the pilots go and strike again

i now get the impression that because WALSH gives the impression he was not directly in negotiations
the pilots would be now back in work

Did you not see Channel 4 the documentary on Thomas Cook collapse, I suggest you watch it. Look at the BA job stand, trying to help TC cabin crew and pilots.

Balpa have come to their senses when they called off 27 Sept strike off.
Shows how much weaken they have become. With a glut of pilots looking for jobs. The BA job stand when TC went bust, 350 pilots? was very busy, staff queuing to try and get a job with BA.

Willie Walsh backs striking BA pilots and says a deal can be done
new
Richard Fletcher, Business Editor

October 10 2019, 5:00pm, The Times

A deal between British Airways and its striking pilots “is there to be done”, Willie Walsh, chief executive of International Airlines Group, has claimed as he publicly expressed his frustration at being unable to become involved in day-to-day talks.

Negotiations with the main union for BA pilots — the British Airline Pilots’ Association (Balpa) — are being led by Mr Cruz, 53, the embattled chief executive.

“I’d like to see this issue resolved but the structure of the group is that the industrial relations are dealt with by the management of each of the operating companies. That is the structure. That is what we agreed to. It may be frustrating for me at times. But that is what we signed up to. That is the….............................................................................................................................................

Thanks for the info Maywillow.
Personally, I don't agree with carbon offsetting, as it doesn't deal with the crux of the problem .

montyhedge...apart from a few other grumpy posters I miss your contributions...you can either take them with a pinch of salt or take some inspiration or treat as a bit of tongue in cheek. One likes a bit of fun or mischief, but we can all take our own position as we see events unfold...there are a few posters who are quite helpful, and their contributions are welcome. Again I really hope that the BALPA threat abates in a sensible compromise between them and BA, and with any settlement we would be home and hosed for 3 years, hopefully. The IAG p/e is way out of line with Ryan Air and Easyjet, and still at a discount to the likes of Air France and key US airlines. We also have the dividend return which against the global hold on interest rates remains very attractive to income seekers...that is why the major Institutions are attracted, and why the analysts are in general very supportive in their comments etc. Good wishes to all holders...
Thanks maywillow for that update from London City Airport...seem most flights are OK after looking at the Airport site.

UK drivers on Shell's loyalty scheme will soon be able to offset their environmental impact by planting more trees as Big Oil responds to fears about climate change. From next week, customers can opt into the carbon credit initiative, which will see Shell invest 10m towards the restoration of forests to atone for drivers' emissions. The plans have been criticised ahead of their launch next week as an attempt to greenwash the industry's image. - Telegraph

British Airways is to offset carbon emissions for all UK domestic flights from next year as part of a wider commitment by its parent company to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Emissions from domestic BA flights will be offset by International Airlines Group investing in carbon reduction projects, including renewable energy and reforestation programmes. BA operates up to 75 UK domestic flights a day. - The Times
