As I have mentioned earlier the company could setup a COCO get a 5 year bond loan inside that without the need for shareholder approval to clear off the Mediator loan and fund the business longer term when it expects revenues to have grown to much higher levels. Through the Suzuki contract, existing UAV and stationary power revenues.

Mediator only have 22% of the business that is unlikely at the moment to happen...IEH have until May 2019 to sort out repayment.

I'm not sure what Meditor would achieve by taking the company private or getting involved in the management of the company. Meditor have first call on the IP, they have a great return on their investment .... IEH need to get a move on re-financing and getting an income stream .... I suppose it all depends on the adoption of Hydrogen ....

A likely strategy is the CLN will be renegotiated or bundled up in a more stable five year Bond taking them past 2020 when production is likely to be 50,000/ fuel cells/ month.

The company is in a better position to negotiate with the bond market and another opportunity which would be better for everyone is M&A with a larger company in the sector.

Business Climate ---- Based on what I have read the CLN can be paid early if funds are available.

At the moment monthly interest payments are being kept up-to-date. And IF business revenues grow enough then repayment of the entire loan could be made between now and May17th 2019.

Yesterdays bullish announcement about stationary and mobile power using the FCM 800 series of generators look and sound very promising. the company said they were taking orders in a market sector that showed clear demand.

The revenues from that project + Luxfer + PINC + Suzuki + service contract revenues has the potential to create much higher revenues going forward. The revenues for 1000 FCM 800 series Fuel Cells/ Month could yield about 4 million/ month as a gusstimate.

So yesterdays announcements were very welcome and showed a much improved business climate.

Someone asked on LSE

"Is it the case that IEH are looking buy out their loan before it matures. Do they have this option?"

First time they have posted .... but where is the evidence IEH can or intend to buy out the loan notes?

Thanks for the replies.

Re IEH's gear being "economically competitive", that might have more to do with Brexit and the further fall of the pound due to the political chaos in the UK since 2015. It could also be because the production line at SMILE FC Corp has reduced costs. I read quite a detailed, "heavy" piece on IEH yesterday which I found pretty reassuring.

I was asking if there's any precedent for outfits like Maditor taking a company like IEH and taking them private. If they did that, what would be the consequence for shareholders?

I wonder if the loan note issue is keeping the share price below 8p?

@Dean sounds like Dilution to me. More money? Sure, bigger share of the company thanks.

I think IEH were 'greedy' they didn't want to let any of their IP go out of their hands. Instead they may well just run out of money.

Best part of the RNS today 'economically competitive' although that suggests that the current offerings are not economically competitive. Great, but surely this should have happened almost 12 months ago.

People keep on bringing up the issue of the convertible load notes and Meditor. What historical precedents are there for funds like Meditor taking over a company like Intelligent Energy? It seems they have no intention of taking IEH "private"

Why did IEH not consider selling some of their IP instead of doing the loan note deal?

"Ongoing relationship with Meditor

Meditor has confirmed to the Company that, should it elect to receive its Conversion Shares at the earliest possible opportunity, such that it secured effective control of the Company, Meditor's intention would be to run the Company as it is currently operated.
Meditor's investment manager believes that the Company has positive long term business prospects based on the strength of its proton exchange membrane fuel cell technology across a range of applications. However, in order for the Company to continue operations and maximise its future potential, further investment is required. Meditor believes such investment will enable the Company to reorganise as necessary, prioritise strategic development and continue its path towards commercialisation of its substantial technology and intellectual property portfolio."

I'd appreciate some debate on this ....

The production lines are going to be busy reducing cash burn as revenues take off.

I am delighted to see this transitioning into a world-class product range, and the FCM-800 series is an important tool for our commercial team who will now be able to address clear market demand for this type of application," said Chief Executive Officer Martin Bloom.

Someone just sold £14 grand plus worth of shares MMs paid above the bid .... I wonder how long until they're a part of another £16 grand plus BUY of which there have been two today .... 2,383,273 shares bought so far today, 1,043,830 sold.

Since IEH are again the technical lead in another EU funded project working on the mass production and delivery of 50,000 HFCs by 2020, I expect news on this soon since the clock is very much ticking. The HFCs need to be made somewhere so either existing production lines are used (the Suzuki-IEH JV in Japan SMILE FC Corp has one) or new ones are built which means premises and plant need to be sourced along with components. The components will need to be ordered and suppliers will have to themselves gear up their own component manufacturing .... but if all those HFCs are to be made by 2020, that means 1,000 a week or so over the whole of 2019 .... or ...??? How much IEH IP and tech will be in these HFCs? We could get news on that within months via RNS. Companies producing HFCs may well not have their own IP ... so they have to license the tech and IP from someone .... if IEH's gear is truly world-class ... we'll see ... the parallels with ARM Holdings are obvious and the fact that the "new" management at IEH have some experience at ARM Holdings is encouraging

The fact the RNS states "orders are now being taken" suggests they are successfully commercialising their intellectual property. Looking at the charts showing the SP, the trend looks upwards and heading towards a pretty decent recovery ... the previous low of 4p is lower than subsequent lows ..... there will still be some traders taking profit (and who can blame them) but I think more buying in will hold as the hydrogen news stream gathers apace.

A few days ago, this excellent piece appeared

Today, there is new news on a trirotor hydrogen powered drone

BMW are proceeding with their HFC powered car programme (weren't BMW part of an earlier EU HFC programme developing HFCs for cars led by IEH? One presumes the new EU project also led by IEH involves putting the results of the earlier project into mass production. Quote " This follows the agreement BMW signed with Japanese giant Toyota back in early 2013 to develop fuel-cell technology." BMW working with Toyota who are working also with Suzuki with whom IEH have a joint venture (SMILE FC Corporation) in Japan. I wonder if the SMILE FC Corp production line is working on the new series of products announced today in the RNS?

The commercial product range, the FCM-800 series, comprises fuel cell modules suited to both stationary and portable applications, and are capable of delivering between one and four kilowatts.

It is an international launch and orders are now being taken, the company said.

Investors welcomed the news, with the London-listed share rising 14% in Wednesday’s early deals.

“The team has worked hard to deliver this new range and it is an exciting time for the company as we expand our product portfolio,” said Alistair Ball, director of product delivery.

“Importantly, the FCM-800 series is economically competitive and we are confident that our new product range will be well received."

Group chief executive Martin Bloom, meanwhile, said: "It has been a positive first year for product-led commercial development for the company.

“Since my arrival, we have outlined a new strategy to maximise commercial opportunities and build the business.

“We have been able to commercialise our world leading technology developed over a 30-year period. I am delighted to see this transitioning into a world class product range and the FCM-800 series is an important tool for our commercial team who will now be able to address clear market demand for this type of application."

NEWS RELEASE

Intelligent Energy launches the 'FCM-800 series' - a new product range for portable and stationary applications
-- 1kW-4kW product power range
-- Optimised for hybridisation with batteries for maximum application efficiency

Loughborough, UK - Wednesday 14 June

Today, Intelligent Energy has announced the launch of a new range of fuel cell module products designed specifically for portable and stationary power applications. The zero emission FCM-800 series utilises Intelligent Energy's class leading air cooled PEM fuel cell technology which has been developed over the last 30 years.

Three products sit within the new range; the FCM-801, FCM-802 and FCM-804 and are capable of delivering a range of power outputs from 1kW-4kW. The range is also optimised for hybridisation with batteries enabling further efficiencies. In addition, the whole range benefits from minimal service requirements. These products are available internationally and orders are now being taken.

Alistair Ball, Director of Product Delivery at Intelligent Energy, added: "The team has worked hard to deliver this new range and it is an exciting time for the company as we expand our product portfolio. Importantly, the FCM-800 series is economically competitive and we are confident that our new product range will be well received."

Last year Intelligent Energy announced a new strategy, setting out plans to commercialise its technology. This launch demonstrates the continued commitment to deliver on this.

Martin Bloom, Group CEO at Intelligent Energy, said: "It has been a positive first year for product-led commercial development for the Company. Since my arrival, we have outlined a new strategy to maximise commercial opportunities and build the business. We have been able to commercialise our world leading technology developed over a 30-year period. California, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, UK, China and Japan are past the trialing phase and have recently started deploying systems in Busses, Fuel Stations, Stationary power systems and now drones. There are a lot of developments everyday imo.
Take a regular look at this industry website for proof.

California H2 Economy ---- California is home to the greatest number of stationary fuel cells, while Connecticut and Delaware are home to the largest installations. The report also shows that California’s advanced energy economy is growing six times faster than the overall economy.

The fuel cell industry has seen a consistent growth rate of 30% per year since 2010. According to the report, the Northeast H2 and fuel cell supply chain contributed nearly $1.4bn in revenue and investment.

LARGE CONTRACTS ON THE NEAR TERM HORIZON.

IEH HAVE EVERYTHING TO PLAY FOR IN THIS FAST DEVELOPING FIELD.

True. But as on date, Japan and california is the place where this technology is being pushed and well adapted. In the long run, community would decide the winner. IEH stacks had good power density over others but their marketing channels are extremely poor. Whatever the announcement has been seen from Feb17 to May17 are made only when the IEH came on ventilator. If this kind of efforts if they have made year back then by this time they would have got some orders by now and production line would be moved on. Now only exhibition and other public platforms are the place where they can look for prospective buyer with whom then can sign off may take time to convert into volume based order. Even last year they could get funding from Raidalot to rescue IEH from being fall into administration. Now the difference from last year to this year is that they have Luxfer order which is kind of high value and credible but rest are just strategic order. In fact IF IEH is looking for fund infusion then they need consumption base order which is highly unlikely because whole world is trialing this technology, so it's very difficult to predict that on immediate basis who would invest. Rest of the reserved share at price of 8p can generate another few million which is also unsure. Company has to first of all announce their existence with current 158 manpower even if they do not get direct order so that buyer should not see IEH as short term bat and can not Honor and service their order because stack needs servicing also.its high time for some positive concrete announcement which IEH should made. Let's see.

If the statements made in the following article is true then the company is well positioned to qualify for at least a 60 million five year bond to bundle the existing CLN and have enough finance in the drive up to 2020 when production is expected to become 50,0000 Fuel Cells/ year. ADDING AT LEAST 500 MILLION TO THE VALUE OF THE BUSINESS ONCE REALISED imo.

In Europe, fuel cell production facilities will begin pumping out 50,000 fuel cell stacks by the year 2020, making United Kingdom-based Intelligent Energy the market leader in bringing the green technology to the masses.

“Hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicles are available now, but to continue to drive customer adoption, we need to ensure future fuel cell stacks are robustly industrialised and remain cost competitive in the future,” said the company’s Manufacturing Head Richard Peart.

Recent news summary --- Here is a summary of rather exciting recent news coverage about the marketing plan as it continues to roll out.

Intelligent Energy’s British fuel cell technology will be at the heart of a fleet of scooters to be used on London’s roads this summer as part of a hydrogen fuel cell technology fleet trial with the city’s Metropolitan Police.

Intelligent Energy has signed a stationary power deal with US-based Luxfer-GTM Technologies as part of a growing strategic relationship in the development of a line of integrated fuel cell products.

Intelligent Energy has signed a deal with PINC to supply its air cooled fuel cell systems for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), marking Intelligent Energy’s first sale of fuel cell systems for UAVs as the Company moves forward with the commercialisation of its technology.

A programme has launched to provide a blueprint to enable fully automated future mass manufacture of fuel cell stacks for the automotive market.

Fuel cell technology company Intelligent Energy will, this month, showcase its cutting edge air cooled fuel cells at the Annual Congress of the Japanese Society of Automotive Engineers in Yokohama.
