Apart from the weight, the very limited range and the fact that lithium batteries have to be replaced at high cost the biggest drawback, so far as I am concerned, with electric cars is the length of time it takes to recharge. This is very rarely mentioned and is impractical if there are a large number of electric cars, no matter how many charge points there are. In countries such as India electric cars are one of the most stupid ideas possible as the electrical infrastructure is incapable of meeting present needs never mind the fuelling of electric cars. Electric cars will be useful for short journeys providing they are recharged at home but have far too many disadvantages to completely replace petrol and diesel, this will become apparent as more people buy and use them.

We live in very exciting times given that Northern Europe and many other leading economies will become hydrogen powered.=== possibly a bright future for IEH as a market leader imo.

Lithium batteries lack the range and will never match the energy to mass ratio of H2 fuel cells.

Once fuel cells adopt nano tube technology it has been shown that 5Kg of gas can achieve 800 miles of travel.

There is no way lithium battery cars will ever match that performance or the 350-400 miles range of H2 cars today.

Tesla uses Lithium-Ion batteries for its electric cars

It is now launching a family priced saloon car at around $30k , which is aimed at the mass market.

Everyone will have read the Volvo story by now ... no more internal combustion engined cars to be produced after 2019 ... all electric.

General Motors is now selling its Chevrolet Bolt EV for around $35K

The Nissan Leaf EV is about to go on sale in the USA within months.

Lithium-Ion batteries have reduced in price by around 80% in the last 10 years.

Tesla has just made a huge factory to produce its own which it is now using for domestic power supplies 'powerwall' , and also for use in Electricity Main power station supplies. Read about its latest contract in South Australia.

Now France has said it is going all electric cars , after the uK announced in the Queens speech that it would be looking to pass a new law to require all petrol stations and motorway service stations to have electric car charging points provided.

Also Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler last Wednesday also announced plans to invest 5 billion Chinese renminbi ($740 million) in a battery plant in China that it will run with China-based BAIC. The partners plan to sell electric vehicles under the Mercedes brand name by 2020.

Green vehicle demand is already booming in China. Forecasts are calling for sales of 580,000 units in 2017, an increase of 58 percent from 2016, even though the Chinese government eased up on subsidies.

My point is Lithium-Ion batteries are getting cheaper and better , they will be the driver of the car market for the next 20 years.

H2 SMART PHONES MAYBE ----- THE PHONE FROM RED IS CALLED HYDROGEN ONE BECAUSE IT WILL BE POWERED BY H2 AND MAYBE IEH FUEL CELLS.

Camera maker RED is building a phone with a 'holographic' screen

© Provided by Engadget
We've seen the venerable Kodak and Polaroid brands slapped onto smartphones before, but RED — makers of those pricey digital cinema cameras — is trying something a little different.

The company just revealed its plans to release the Hydrogen One, a high-powered, unlocked Android smartphone with prices starting at an eye-watering $1,195. That gets you an aluminum phone with some crazy looking grips; the titanium finish will set you back an extra $400.

Rising Revenues --- REVENUES ARE CERTAINLY RISING AT IEH as production ramps up.

Recent news summary --- Here is a summary of rather exciting recent news coverage about the marketing plan as it continues to roll out.

A JV joint venture with a mobile phone manufacturer worth 5.25 million over two years from early 2016 -- that is revenue of 2.6 million/ year + manufacturing of the fuel cells----MAYBE IT'S RED SMART PHONES.

Intelligent Energy’s British fuel cell technology will be at the heart of a fleet of scooters to be used on London’s roads this summer as part of a hydrogen fuel cell technology fleet trial with the city’s Metropolitan Police.

-----------------------------------

Intelligent Energy has signed a stationary power deal with US-based Luxfer-GTM Technologies as part of a growing strategic relationship in the development of a line of integrated fuel cell products.

-----------------------------------

Intelligent Energy has signed a deal with PINC to supply its air cooled fuel cell systems for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), marking Intelligent Energy’s first sale of fuel cell systems for UAVs as the Company moves forward with the commercialisation of its technology.

-----------------------------------

The commercial product range, the FCM-800 series, comprises fuel cell modules suited to both stationary and portable applications, and are capable of delivering between one and four kilowatts.

It is an international launch and orders are now being taken, the company said.

-----------------------------------

A 3.5 MLILLION EURO EU-TOYOTA programme has launched to provide a blueprint to enable fully automated future mass manufacture of fuel cell stacks for the automotive market.

This all amounts to much more revenue...imo

After this, upper product launches and then apple has terminated that contract for time being. In long run consumer electronics business may revive for FC but above RNS is old dated and has no significance in today's difficult time of IEH.

HERE IS an RNS signed last year about a 5 million JV with an emerging smart phone maker.

8 February 2016 Intelligent Energy Holdings plc

JOINT DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT WITH SMARTPHONE OEM SIGNED

CONTRACT WORTH £5.25M

Intelligent Energy ("IE"), the energy technology group, is pleased to confirm that it has signed a joint development agreement (JDA) with an emerging smartphone OEM following on from a Letter of Intent signed in late November 2015.

The deal will see IE and the OEM working closely together to deliver a tailored development and integration programme to address smartphone power limitations.

The JDA has a total contract value of £5.25m. The JDA is expected to be cash flow positive with 10% payable following signature followed by a number of time based instalments over the next 24 months.

The agreement is in line with IE's on-going Consumer Electronics strategy where the development costs are shared with partners and marks another important step in licensing the Company's technology in the smartphone market.

Ibug, u r really work harder than hard to market ieh. U must have keep pasted all articles in word page so as and when needed as per Ur wish u can paste here. Ur true promoter of IEH. but u take reference of IEH announcement only, u never do risk analysis thinking on negative side potentially possible so it would give all retail investors a true confidence and risk involved. Rather u should post status of production lines, search news on Suzuki to have update about burgman current status, PINC status and to whom all others are with whom PINC is talking other than ieh, Japan and China given best potential market in blooms speech multiple times but never ever as such any update given in Asian countries progress. This would truly helps all of us. I have thought on all this but so far not successful to publish authentic information.

SP UPLIFT COMING--CORRECTIONS ----- share price UPLIFT COMING ----- With diesel powered portable refrigerators for example if IEH land just one contract with a major supplier for their 5KW PEM HFC fuels cells then we will be looking at many thousands of fuel cells being delivered and that is just one sector.

DIESEL Fuel powered machines is an enormous market---H2 fuel cells will now be replacing diesel generators.

The Luxfer diesel replacement generators is just a small start there is much more commercial developments to happen yet.

---- here is some of the info from luxfer

Like previous ZeroSet generations, the Generation 3 is the only portable, zero emission power generator on the market capable of run times of almost five (5) days (@50% duty cycle), 24x7 operation, with 98% reliability. The ZeroSet - Gen 3 provides clean, almost whisper quiet, energy for a diverse range of applications extending from back-up power for critical electronic infrastructure to primary power for movies sets and portable cell tower deployments.

THE ONLY COMPANY WHO SUPPLY 98% EFFICIENT FUELS CELLS IS IEH.
It may be said that IEH now supply all the fuel cells for the three power applications that Luxfer supply: 1KW, 5KW and the 10KW portable/ stationary systems that supply power 24/7 for a week.

IEH must be taking significant orders since last March --- HENCE WE MAY EXPECT AN UPLIFT IN THE share price WHEN THAT NEWS BREAKS IMO!.

THE MARKET WELCOMED THE LATEST NEWS --- which was far better than their march statements.

The Group meets its day to day working capital requirements through its cash resources.

The current trading position of the Group results in cash consumption and while it is expected that the Group will exit the current financial year with cash on its balance sheet, the cash position thereafter will depend on future trading,

including a significant level of revenues that are not presently contracted, and potentially a combination of the following factors, namely realising value from the IP portfolio,

After careful consideration of potential cash flows over the foreseeable future, and from the opportunities available to the Company that are outlined above, the Directors expect the Company to be able to manage its position in a way which allows it to fulfil its commitments and settle its obligations as they fall due for the foreseeable future.

IT LOOKS LIKE THEY KNOW ABOUT A SIGNIFICANT CONTRACT IN THE PIPELINE imo

Intelligent Energy shares rise on fuel cell product launch

Investors welcomed the product launch news, with the London-listed share rising 14% in Wednesday’s early deals.

Orders are now being taken for the FCM-800 fuel cells

Loughborough based Intelligent Energy Holding PLC (LON:IEH) has today launched a new range of zero-emissions fuel cell technology.

The commercial product range, the FCM-800 series, comprises fuel cell modules suited to both stationary and portable applications, and are capable of delivering between one and four kilowatts.

It is an international launch and orders are now being taken, the company said.

Investors welcomed the news, with the London-listed share rising 14% in Wednesday’s early deals.

“The team has worked hard to deliver this new range and it is an exciting time for the company as we expand our product portfolio,” said Alistair Ball, director of product delivery.

“Importantly, the FCM-800 series is economically competitive and we are confident that our new product range will be well received."

Group chief executive Martin Bloom, meanwhile, said: "It has been a positive first year for product-led commercial development for the company.

“Since my arrival, we have outlined a new strategy to maximise commercial opportunities and build the business.

“We have been able to commercialise our world leading technology developed over a 30-year period. I am delighted to see this transitioning into a world class product range and the FCM-800 series is an important tool for our commercial team who will now be able to address clear market demand for this type of application."
