03/11/2011 18:07 | I doubt much will happen now until LightSquared do or don't get FCC approval - apparantly a decision is expected by the end of the year. I would guess either way will have a big impact on us! | artibee

04/10/2011 09:55 | saw this first on twitter, but have copied it from inmarsat website for info: IsatPhone Pro top in Land Rover magazine tests 29-09-2011 - IsatPhone Pro came out on top when it was pitted against a leading competitor in an independent trial of satellite phones. In rigorous tests, Land Rover Owner International magazine tried out Inmarsat's global handheld and the Iridium 9555. Recognising that a satphone is now a viable and potentially life-saving accessory to take on drives into the wilderness, the publication's aim was to see which satphone was the most worthwhile investment for its adventurous readers. Battery life Testers considered each handset's ease of use, clarity, battery life and reliability. The two phones were taken to Wales, as well as to Arizona and Utah in the US, where they were used to keep in contact with home from a wide variety of terrains including mountains, valleys, forests, a high-rise city centre, and in vehicles on the move. They were ranked for quality, performance, ease of use and value for money. Highest score IsatPhone Pro scored highest in every category apart from ease of use, where it was judged to be equal to the Iridium handset. With the Iridium 9555, the test found that " in built-up areas or in the shadow of mountains it was difficult to have an extended conversation without the call being dropped". The report also notes: "The Isatphone Pro wins in battery life and in high-rise urban areas, where we found that the high altitude of the Inmarsat network generally gave better reception once we had found the right place to stand." The publication's technology editor Russ Brown concludes: "For the purchaser the most significant difference is price, with the Iridium 9555 being almost twice as expensive to buy and use." 21/9/2011 08:32 | I agree, happy to hold , but there was an opportunity to sell out last week,on bid rumour scepticism and buy back. The share price is sinking back.I delayed too long. | wad collector
20/9/2011 08:33 | A bid is a possibility and would be a nice bonus for holders. But there is no need to worry as without a bid, this share is underpinned by a healthy yield and a steady increase in earnings. | rcturner2
19/9/2011 13:18 | Looking at todays price, hovering just above £5, the correct answer on Friday was go ,not stay.Bid rumour exactly that.A rumour. Not a bid. | wad collector
17/9/2011 12:56 | and could there be more good news after Tuesday?............ Andrew Sukawaty, CEO of the maritime telecommunications giant Inmarsat Plc said the company has attracted interest from private equity firms. As reported by Bloomberg, Inmarsat advanced as much as 2.9 percent in London trading following Sukawaty's comments. The shares have declined 26 percent since Philip Falcone's Harbinger Capital Partners said in October it would sell its holding. Individual and institutional investors attending Private Equity Happy Hour, on Tuesday September 20, will discuss this topic and many others pertaining to the private equity industry. Private Equity Happy Hour receptions are great opportunities for them to speak with unprecedented candidness about their trade, both opportunities and challenges. Private equity is generally considered equity capital that is not quoted on a public exchange. Private equity consists of investors and funds that make investments directly into private companies or conduct buyouts of public companies that result in a delisting of public equity. Capital for private equity is raised from retail and institutional investors, and can be used to fund new technologies, expand working capital within an owned company, make acquisitions, or to strengthen a balance sheet. As referred in Investopedia, the majority of private equity consists of institutional investors and accredited investors who can commit large sums of money for long periods of time. Private equity investments often demand long holding periods to allow for a turnaround of a distressed company or a liquidity event such as an IPO or sale to a public company. Private Equity Happy Hour New York City is produced by Golden Networking ( the premier networking community for business executives, entrepreneurs and investors. Upcoming Golden Networking's Forums and Business Receptions include: Private Equity Happy Hour New York ( September 20, New York | sruthan

16/9/2011 16:10 | yep - but VZ cannot meet their stated divi. policy without the cash payout, they need VZW to contribute - but will not declare it as fixed.. agree on VOD being less than impressed tho. | verymaryhinge
16/9/2011 16:05 | i think they said that the last one was potentially a 'one off' and it is at their discretion to pay out future ones, as they may want to buy another business given they have paid down debt.. hence vodafone shares were not great on that announcement.. | edwardt
16/9/2011 10:45 | Verizon need the cash to meet their stated dividend policy, so I expect Verizon Wireless to continue to pay the divi's.. | verymaryhinge |
