Hi all, ..." nine months ago, EchoStar offered 532p a share and the board considered that "very significantly undervalued Inmarsat and its standalone prospects"... I think in part because EchoStar wasn't offering all cash and there's some question-mark about the value of their paper... ATB

The management will probably try to discern whether they will have a better future with a private equity outfit than a public company.A public company that will kick them out and put in their own team.

I hate it when my shares get bought out. Why...? because someone else has got my shares on the cheap. Predators only move where they see value and opportunity, and unlike us, they have huge staffs to do proper due diligence on what it is that they are buying. Yes, we may get some cash but they will get the value. I was massively long SKY and was very unhappy to say goodbye to that one.

Fire sale price, future is aviation wifi, need to hold their nerve and see it through rather than sell it on the cheap to private equity sharks on the cusp of something good, these should be back to 10 quid a share. Its a shame the board of this company are such poor quality, typical cxxp british execs.

Maybe because the suggested offer price in January came before their results. Post results (which were not dire, and instead suggest real future potential for wi-fi) the board might well reject this, or be renegotiating a higher price. Mr Market today seems to suggest the bid will fail - price is up but not close to offer price.

Predators sniffing for the second time in six months. Confirmation - if confirmation were needed - that this is massively undervalued.

Given that, nine months ago, EchoStar offered 532p a share and the board considered that "very significantly undervalued Inmarsat and its standalone prospects" why would the same board now even entertain a bid at 542p ? Why would they not be making the same "undervalued" statement about this bid ?

‘Time to warm our hands on some burning shorts’ . What a lovely turn of phrase.

"They did well to keep it quiet for that long!" Or to put it another way they received a specific cash offer at US$7.21 per share almost 8 weeks ago involving multiple parties (higher chance of leaking) and apparently failed to inform the market until the media found out. So it actually feels like a "false market" situation was allowed to develop, which might be actionable. Does little to inspire my confidence in the Board.

Cityam article is wrong to say "Shares in the London-listed firm rose by 1.38 per cent following the announcement." The announcement was two hours after market close! We are yet to see market reaction on LSE.

They did well to keep it quiet for that long! As extrader says, now it's time to open it up. It's going to be an interesting day tomorrow. Time to warm our hands on some burning shorts. The fund manager at Portsea is not going to be a happy bunny!

Hi all, The indicative offer was made end January; "informed" (?) buying seems to have started mid Feb, pushing share price up from 375ish; and the CEO and CFO vested 3 years' worth of Bonus Shares (about 50,000 shares each, after tax / NI) on 8th March. After some desultory chat, looks as though ISAT has announced in order to see who else might throw their hat into the ring. NY's US$ 7.05 = £ 5.34. "Fortune favours the brave". ATB

After-hours announcement re approach at 7.21 USD per share (£5.43 at today's exchange rate). RNS was issued at 18:48, more than two hours after market close. Closing price was £4.38. Shorters' nightmare. Interesting to see opening price tomorrow.
