ISAT certainly has been 'disrupted' and the management far too slow to respond.

As Charlie Ergen has said, the sector needs to consolidate to compete.

Thus, I think the future for ISAT will not be alone, but when an industry needs to consolidate it's rarely with any big money buy-out. The management were too slow to realise that last time and as others have already mooted, the next offer (if there is one) probably won't be as generous.

It’s a disgrace really.

I have become friends with someone who works at the European Space Agency in Paris.

Fact is they can’t compete with Musk. The largesse and in effect subsidy of the American capital market is by extension creating much lower costs to launch these birds and therefore an inevitable price deflation in ISAT’s space.

On a separate note I flew business to Madrid on a new Iberia plane and was given a courtesy 4mb token. Wasn’t that impressed, it was super slow, maybe ok to read a watsapp message but even an email with no graphics took yonks to download.

Sorry to be negative, I cut my losses some time ago. The management deserve to be shot though.

I would imagine that, if a new one does come, the chances of the offer anything like as high as the one last year are approximately zero.

Echostar pulled the offer on 6th July, so surely that makes it 7th Jan?

Well the 6 months is well and truly up now, so how long before the first rumours start again?

And would the board be so quick to say no again if an offer was pitched at the same level?

I guess that the Galileo EU/U.K. spat is well appreciated and probably discounted in the ISAT price. If the UK goes on develop its own system could this be good news for Inmarsat? ...Are they capable of fulfilling such a requirement if requested or would wheels start grinding in the background to get the company tied up with a corporate partner.

Britain intends to build its own satellite navigation system after being frozen out of the EU's Galileo project by Brussels because of Brexit.

“After months of fruitless negotiation over the space programme and after sinking £1.2 billion into the project, Theresa May said the UK would aim to build its own system instead.” Daily Telegraph 1Dec 2018

Merian short still reducing, below 1% again now, for first time since Sept.

Aggregate short positions now negligible, just Merian (ex Old Mutual) with a reducing short, now down to 1.07%. All the others are below the reporting threshold. Overall short now down to levels last seen in the second half of 2016.

Draw your own conclusions; mine is that this is a reasonably positive signal for future direction.

Well that was painful. If this is all down to lower maritime growth and overall profit then perhaps more attention should be paid to aviation growth. By my calculations if aviation continues to grow at 30% per quarter it will overtake maritime revenue in less that 3 quarters. Have I got that wrong?

That's without EAN which is now slated for early 2019.

State owned Indian partner applied for permissiom to build IAN this week with 500 towers. I've not yet researched Indian air mile and internet usage growth but would guess it's not small.
