08/11/2018 19:10 | Sentiment isn’t helped by the fact that ISAT appears on Dr Edward Altman’s “Red” warning list on his Z-score system.Altman contrived a method in the 1960s of identifying companies likely to go bust.He looked at various ratios and boasts a 72% accuracy rate.Anyway,Inmarsat ,along with companies like Mitchell and Butler and Debenhams are flashing red.Its a worry because one senses the management are pursuing what could prove to be disappointingly low margins in a very competitive aviation market when it comes to inflight systems, while maritime continues to struggle. An inability to do simple cash flow computations is a given with ISAT as its past dividend policy suggests.Perhaps the company mistakenly believes that its still quasi government owned and will be baled out in an emergency. | steeplejack
08/11/2018 14:54 | The dividend is the root of all evil in this company. I’m seriously still amazed that the halfwits running this company continued to pay it for as long as they did. | the original goldbug
08/11/2018 09:32 | For now they pay a dividend, but earnings a debt might see an end to that. What caught my eye was another 3 years of £500m a year CAPX, and I thought that is mostly done by this year? Are they building spare satellites or something? Terrestrial infrastructure for aviation perhaps? | zcaprd7
08/11/2018 08:50 | True, but in their case, they paid too much for too long and then suddenly realised that their cash flow was inadequate to fund the level of dividend. They lost the plot as far as cash flow was concerned. Not good. | steeplejack
08/11/2018 08:45 | But at least ISAT pays a divi. | bscuit
08/11/2018 08:32 | It's one of those situations where there's a clear divide between what the management think is an acceptable performance and what the stockmarket thinks is ok.Another company which comes out with self congratulatory remarks is BTG which even applaud themselves for not paying a dividend and keep shifting the sales targets of product development.BTGs price has underperformed like ISAT,albeit not quite as bad. It's fair to assume that news of these underwhelming figures leaked out and explains recent weakness. In due course, this company will be taken over, its always the way but opportunity cost suggests that patiently waiting to be bailed out by a predator often isn't worth it. | steeplejack
08/11/2018 08:25 | Probably just not fast enough growth in aviation. Strange though, surely weak numbers brings the bidders back into play? | argylerich
08/11/2018 08:23 | The board ‘remains confident’ despite the fact the shareprice is £1 below what they termed a deeply opportunistic bid. I haven’t come to grips with why the share price is getting smashed today, but these people really are the worst example of UK corporate mediocrity. | the original goldbug
08/11/2018 08:19 | Aha, I can't see anything terrible, is it ligado, or lack of the one off, mysterious government revenue they got last time? | zcaprd7
23/10/2018 14:02 | Very weak recently... When is the 6 month bidding deadline up? | zcaprd7

04/10/2018 09:43 | tHIS IS VERY STRANGE - YESTERDAY AND TODAY SHARE PRICE IS MOVING(sorry for caps) and showing as low trades - then all of a sudden its 700,000. This share price did the same thing before the previous bid was announced - loads of smallish trades - and the share price moves up - yesterday and today - far higher than the average 3m. showing more sells than buys and yet the price is up. I just wonder if this is doing the same thing prior to the June bid - lots of trading with small volumes...HMMMM may only be a theory - but I think something is afoot - well wait and see eh?? 28/9/2018 11:17 | Bluemango, I'd always go to the RNS itself. The link above confirms drop to "under 5%" | argylerich
26/9/2018 09:15 | Can anyone help me out with a confusion please. Holding Notice from BlackRock on Monday seemed to suggest a reduction from 5.06%, to go under the threshold on Friday. But this is contradicted by press report saying the opposite, that BlackRock increased on Monday to go to 5.1%. ??? | bluemango
26/9/2018 08:59 | BlackRock Sells Stake In easyJet, Builds Holding In Inmarsat LONDON (Alliance News) - BlackRock Inc on Monday said it reduced its holding in easyJet PLC to below 5%, whilst at the same time increasing its stake in Inmarsat PLC to 5.1%. 25/9/2018 13:10 | Old Mutual aggressively increasing still, now up to 0.97% from nowhere. Total declared shorts now at 1.66% | argylerich |
