Yes I feel something strange here too, if you had launched takeover for this at 182 and were serious you would be buying everything up now and saving 50m in the process

The movement of the IMG share price today is baffling.

In my experience, when a sale at a fixed price is agreed the share price often climbs above the agreed price before settling back to between 1 and 3 percent of the sale price and those deals have many takers. What is wrong here!!

At a 182p per share sale price IMG have fallen back 10% as of 3.20pm. Ten per cent almost guaranteed is a fantastic gain for just waiting a couple of months, so why the drop. Seems there may be some concern about the deal happening, I can't see any other reason as to why the price is not hovering around 176/180.

As an aside, I was wondering what plans CB might have for Ensigma. IMG made great play of its complementary nature with MIPS and toyed with selling them as a bundle.

It makes me wonder if CB will sell it off later to an IoT business, and just concentrate on the graphics side with PowerVR and Caustic, while the priority was to offload MIPS because of its US status (and prevent Trump blocking the deal).

Seems a bit bonkers Ian - if they want access to MIPS IP they can just do what Chinese outfits do now - buy licenses !

eetimes asks is there skullduggery involved with the way the deal has been structured, to give Canyon bridge access to MIPS by the back door. In fact if you read that article it's as if IMG is mostly about MIPS and nothing else

I've just got around to reading the report "Chinese tech firm takeover 'could put UK security at risk'" in todays Mail -

- 'making microchips for billions of products from Apple smartphones to wireless speakers'

- 'Apple, the company's biggest customer, uses many of the 1.2 billion chips produced every year in its iPhones and iPads'

So bad - but I guess those hedge guys will use every trick in the book!!

Let's face it D, we were never going to get a straight up deal with no f'ing about were we ? With Apple potentially in the way we were never going to be able to get a straight out agreed takeover so the 2 month court scheme route was needed.

I re-opened my spreadbet at 1.66 to take advantage of the upcoming rise to 1.82.

It is expected that the Scheme Document, containing further information about the Acquisition and notices of the Court Meeting and General Meeting, together with the Forms of Proxy, will be posted to Imagination Shareholders and (for information only) to participants in the Imagination Share Plans within 20 Business Days of the date of this Announcement and that the Scheme will become Effective in mid-November 2017 ,subject to the satisfaction of all relevant conditions, including the Conditions and certain further terms set out in Appendix 1 to this Announcement.


So about eight weeks!!
