Maybe, wouldn't be that surprised if fracking gets through if the below is true..

"The Government then lifted the ban last month, with the scientific survey suggesting that while concerns over tremors remained, there was a case for exploration and drilling to determine the scale of opportunity and the viability of fracking.

Households will now be offered up to £1,000 to approve provisional fracking in their area under a plan backed by Government ministers to secure local consent, as first reported in The Telegraph.

Companies that want to drill for shale gas will now be going door-to-door to convince residents to green-light the move.

Exploratory drilling will then be allowed to go ahead if more than 50 per cent of households in the local vicinity give their approval for it"

Nothing like a bit of instant gratification (and short term profit) to get people to agree imo.

All politicians are all talk imo with their decisions changing from one opinion poll to the next.
Most of them seem to work for the WEF nowadays anyway rather than representing our needs.
Bought the top of the gap here. See what happens.

UK retailers hit by drop in footfall as energy bills rise
Fall of 0.2% recorded in week starting 2 October, with biggest dip in shopping centres and retail parks

The number of visitors to shopping destinations dropped back last week in one of the first indications of a slowdown in spending amid rising energy bills.

In the week beginning 2 October, footfall slipped by 0.2% on the previous week across all UK retail destinations, with the biggest drop in shopping centres and retail parks, according to figures from the monitoring group Springboard.

Energy fears drive blankets and air fryers sales ahead of winter

People are stocking up on blankets and air fryers as they try to keep their energy bills down this winter, according to a new report.

Other energy-efficient appliances, such as air dryers, and warm clothing have also been selling well, the British Retail Consortium (BRC) said.

But despite this, overall retail sales volumes continued to fall in September, the BRC said.

It said people have been avoiding buying items such as TVs and computers.

The report, from the BRC and consultancy KPMG, showed the value of retail sales grew by 2.2% last month, an increase from the 1% growth seen in August.

Germany is entering a dark winter with too much natural gas consumption and may be unable to avoid an energy "emergency" in the months ahead, the head of the country's network regulator warned Thursday, according to WaPo.

"Gas consumption increased by too much last week," said Klaus Mueller, head of Germany's network agency.

Gym group charging up to £63 per month switch off Jacuzzis to save money
Nuffield Health told customers the spa pools would be switched off to 'conserve energy'

A premium health club, which charges customers up to £63 a month, has resorted to switching off its hot tubs to cut down on energy costs. Nuffield Health, which has centres in Warwick, Nuneaton and Rugby, said they have been faced with 'considerable' rising tariffs in recent months.

Members were told the spa pools would be switched off over the winter period. It has sparked a fierce backlash from customers who have not seen membership fees reduced as a result of the reduction in service, reports PlymouthLive.

Now, the company has warned that they may have to consider other cost-saving measures in the future if the energy crisis escalates further.

Energy supplier handing out 10,000 free electric blankets - how to get one
Octopus Energy is running the giveaway from Monday

An energy supplier is handing out free electric blankets - to help customers stay warm as energy bills surge. Major supplier Octopus Energy is giving the blankets to some of its 3.1 million customers, as energy prices rice from £1,971 per year to £2,500 for the average household as of October 1, reports The Mirror.

The electric blankets are currently cheaper than turning on the heating. From Monday, October 10, customers can fill out an online form to apply for the blankets.

There are 10,000 available, which will be given to those most in need, such as pensioners and those with medical conditions. But even if you don't qualify, you can apply for a discount code for 50% off a Dreamland electric blanket and mattress topper, of which 5,000 are up for grabs.

A Welsh cheesemaker believes businesses who use off-grid energy are being "forgotten about" by the UK government.

John Savage-Onstwedder said his energy costs are "going through the roof".

Oil and liquefied petroleum gas are not covered by the energy price cap which came into force on October 1.

UK energy: Nadhim Zahawi says blackouts extremely unlikely

Cabinet minister Nadhim Zahawi has repeatedly told the BBC's Laura Kuenssberg that it is extremely unlikely we'll see blackouts this winter.

But, he highlighted that the war in Ukraine has lead to national grid issuing a warning in case things "align in a bad way".

Zahawi added that people can enjoy Christmas and feel the government is supporting them with their bills.

Liz Truss has ignored the government’s own climate advisers in opposing an energy-saving campaign this winter, it has emerged, amid mounting frustration over her resistance to the plan.

The advisory body the Climate Change Committee wrote to the prime minister last month outlining the need for a “comprehensive energy advice service” to reduce demand.

“Public awareness of what can be done to reduce energy use (either in homes or businesses) is too low,” the advisers wrote. “Specific advice on this could help in the near term by increasing awareness of low or zero-cost actions that could reduce wasted energy straight away, such as lowering boiler flow temperatures, and simple draught proofing. Lowering boiler flow temperatures can reduce gas consumption alone by 6-8%.”

However, Truss continues to oppose even a slimmed-down £15m public awareness campaign, understood to have been endorsed by business secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg. The business department said there were “no plans for the government to tell the public to reduce usage for the sake of our energy supplies”.

Central heating will be restricted in Italy this winter, as it becomes the latest country to take action on European gas supply shortages sparked by Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Under a new government decree, buildings will face an extra fifteen days without central heating.

Italians will also be told to turn their heating down by one degree, and off for an extra hour a day.

Some buildings will be exempt, including nurseries and hospitals.
