Fatnacker:

No disrespect but...from the website of Gibraltarpilots.com..."Gibraltar is the gateway to the Mediterranean and is adjacent to one of the most important shipping lanes in the world. Currently there are seven pilots and three high-speed boats in our fleet to assist in serving the vessels visiting Gibraltar.

We are a self-administrating company, regulated by the Government of Gibraltar. Gibraltar Pilots have been serving the port of Gibraltar since the 1800's.

If you are about to or are considering entering Gibraltar waters or the port of Gibraltar then please check the services page for a more detailed look at what we can offer you and your vessel."

Puffet, no disrespect and don't take this as a snipe but why would the AM's departure be delayed waiting for the pilot when there's no requirement for one when exiting gib anchorage?

Plenty of competition for oil assets. Bodes well for HUR when the time comes.

www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/business/sir-jim-ratcliffes-ineos-eyes-3bn-swoop-on-north-sea-oil-fields-kl3m32jxm

"Britain’s richest man is in talks over an audacious deal to expand his growing oil and gas empire.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s company, Ineos, is understood to be in exclusive talks to buy $3bn (£2.3bn) of North Sea oil and gas fields being sold by the US giant Conoco Phillips.

Conoco last week said it was marketing the assets, including stakes in the Clair field west of Shetland and the Teesside oil terminal, after an “unsolicited offer”.

Ineos is believed to have put down a deposit in return for three months’ exclusivity on the package. HSBC and Citigroup are said to have been lined up to provide financing. Other players expected to take an interest if the Ineos talks fall through include private equity firms Neptune and Chrysaor.

Conoco’s sale comes amid an accelerating change of guard in the North Sea, with bigger companies selling out to smaller players more willing to eke out what is left in the dwindling basin.

US giant Chevron and its French rival Total are also putting assets worth billions of dollars up for sale, sparking potentially fierce competition among buyers.

A bid for Conoco’s assets would be his second try: he made an audacious $2bn takeover bid for its UK business in 2016, but it was knocked back amid a shake-up in Conoco’s boardroom.

Ratcliffe, 65, made his name building Ineos, which makes chemicals. He topped The Sunday Times Rich List last year, with a fortune calculated at £21bn. He is also creating a new off-road vehicle modelled on the Land Rover Defender and made an unsuccessful £2bn bid to buy Chelsea FC from Roman Abramovich in July."

It won't need a dry dock to drop the plate off - it didn't need one to put it on, and that's a more difficult operation.
Simply hook a winch cable to the plate inside the turret, undo the securing clamps and lower it onto a frame on the sea bed (the frame to stop it suctioning into the mud). It can then be picked up with a crane after the AM moves away.

From my only previous experience of an FPSO Rotterdam stopover in transit from shipyard to operational location, I'm still guessing there might be some formal inspection and certification processes to be conducted before letting it loose. Also AM probably needs dry docking to remove that transit plate from the turret docking port.

Well if Puffet is right that the AZ is going to be in Rotterdam for two weeks then that might suggest it is there for a fair bit more than welding the tall steelwork stacks back in place.

Can’t help feeling they are putting something up their slieve remains the GWA which was not on the table before the Spirit deal.

The only remaining peace of the jig saw which Puffet may be best placed to answer is how long to first oil when it's all hooked up? I noted the RNS stated commissioning activities are happening on this voyage so will that help how quickly they can get into production?

Thanks for the info Puffin, must confess to being sceptical at first but timing proved to be correct.

Glad it was just a short delay before resuming the journey.

I see the Aoka Mizu is just rounding the south westerly corner of Portugal after which it will turn north.

It's coming home.

The issue has been dealt with fairly clearly in HURs recent communications, particularly in relation to the Spirit FO. Eg see slide 8 of the lated presentation. Gas export solution work planned to start in mid 2019, with first gas planned for 2020/21.

It's an essential (and funded) part of the planned increase in FPSO capacity to handle expected input from the GWA to the EPS.

iirc we're good for flaring and fuel until around 30kbpd production and then we're going to have to find an offtake solution, which as snowcameron has pointed out is where the farmin solution with Spirit comes in to play.

My last comment referred to the handling of the small amount of associated gas expected at initial EPS oil production rates. There are plans to tie in to the West of Shetland pipeline to handle increased gas rates. Details of this were mentioned in the presentation published after the Spirit Energy farm in.

I could setup a 'Guild' thread for Hurricane, which can be moderated, but you would need at least 15 PLUS1 coins to join. Not sure if many of you have ADVFN's PLUS1 crypto currency, the grey box in the header tells you if you have any. You can collect the coins via what's called a Faucet that can be found by clicking the grey button. If you join and I later moderate you, there would be no refund of your PLUS1.
