31/10/2017 16:52 | (Bloomberg) -- Glencore Plc and Trafigura Group Pte are often at loggerheads, but one thing they agree on: the nickel market will be transformed by the rise of electric cars. Nickel sulphate, a key ingredient in lithium-ion batteries, will see demand increase 50 percent to 3 million metric tons by 2030, Saad Rahim, chief economist at Trafigura, said in an interview. While other battery metals like cobalt and lithium have more than doubled since the start of last year, nickel prices have been subdued because of large inventories. "When you look structurally, we should start to get bullish now,” Rahim said. “Are you going to be able to meet that demand when the time comes, given underinvestment in the supply side?” His view echoes the outlook from Glencore, which told analysts recently that nickel production would need to increase 1.2 million tons by 2030, equal to more than half of current global output, to keep up with demand from the battery industry. Prices are currently more than double what it costs Glencore to mine the metal. | twigs3

31/10/2017 15:53 | salmon1, I like your train of thought and agree that JM is incredibly diplomatic and it is this which has enabled him to increase our assets substantially over the years. One thing for sure with the way interest in Ni is picking up with the EV story, is that JM will be having confidential talks with a number of parties. He has told us in the past of approaches made to him with interest in HZM. He must have a lot on his plate now juggling between the possibilities of either building the mine for which funding has to be secured, take-off agreements reached or just to get the best offer he can post FS; limonite resource will have to valued for this to be achieved. All this will be occupying a lot of JM's time so I wonder how his offer to meet with a group of us now stands, I know you were of the view that it should be sooner rather than later but wonder whether that is possible with all that is going on. We are clearly in exciting times and find it surprising that HZM is being ignored by press for so long; Ian Lyall (pro-active and Mail) has written at length in past, perhaps he should update now! Some good buys today but still some large sales, I wonder whether Lombard Odier have finished yet because surely there should be an RNS when they do. | raymund
31/10/2017 15:45 | cnbc news video about the deal, the shock on her face that HZM picked it up for $8m Must have been a steal! | twigs3
31/10/2017 15:21 | Interesting point Twigs. £80m was spent on development, but how much did Glencore pay? And HZM have added value since Glencore sold out and they did get some equity. I just wonder if buying it back could be seen as a good deal all round. JM has always, quite rightly, been diplomatic when asked if we "bought it for a steal". Another way of looking at it is that Glencore outsourced the development of GAP by selling to HZM (saving them the trouble of putting a management team together)and increased the value of their equity through the synergy of the larger asset. If Glencore are interested in taking it back for what the board and SHs think is an acceptable price I for one would be happy to say Glencore had made an astute deal if it helps get the best deal for HZM and saves on the embarrassment front. | salmonn1
31/10/2017 14:45 | They could do just that JB but it wouldn't look good for them, spend £80m on GAP sell to HZM for £8m then buy back for £200-£30 | twigs3
31/10/2017 14:36 | Nickel was a thorn in the side to Glencore , however they are now very bullish on Nickel again. They sold GAP to HZM and Australian mine ( from Xstrara takeover) for small monies to sell assets that were a drain on their balance sheet at the time.Could Glencore takeover Horizonte since already retaining a shareholding? | jailbird

30/10/2017 18:22 | Hi - been having a look at this as if correct has implictions for a share I am watching - From the stock exchange excange and HMRC web sites it looks as though both brokers may be wrong Links herewith. My own research to date suggests they are wrong as the TSX is not a recognised stock exchange for HMRC – Unless I have missed something. /Designated_recognis So far as I can tell stamp duty should only be payable on an AIM stock where the dual listing is on a recognised Stock Exchange I would much appreciate a feed back on this thread when you hear from your brokers. | pugugly
30/10/2017 18:18 | Strong day and continuing a very good chart “bowl” formation which should see us reach 6p then onto to 12p given the high quality nickel asset and BFS due soon. | adorling

30/10/2017 14:12 | Whilst AMC has potential its way behind HZM who are near term and Tier 1, yes Tier 1 - high grade and low cost and thats just the PEA based resource. Add in the Limonite and Cobalt too!And also the CEO Jeremy has built a strong II backing and has raised sensiblyAMC CEO has repeatedly brought in bucket shops fleecing investors - none of that from this company who are quietly building an AIM champion in my view! | maverick247
