I keep checking for the bad news, i have watched this one get ticked down gradually for the past couple of days, despite good buys???????????????? what's going on? It must be MM's playing games, waiting until they can pick up some stock. Raise price and get everyone excited, then tick it down and haul in some profits! Medium term holder!

Bit of strange one this, seems that big buyers come in then price moves back down?

Has anyone spotted any tips over the weekend? I've not seen anything myself. If not i'd like to know why IMHO a great share to have in the portfolio. Should see a steady clime to circa 120 over coming months.

Its looking good here. Could it be that we will have a tip in the week-end press and then re-rating.

I topped up a small amount at 103p this week, MMs have been soaking up all the small sellers. A big 500k buy went through there!

Yeah results look decent, but there seems a sceptic out there who is keeping the price down. Market maker sell of 50k at 100p.
Was there a hold, sell rec in the IC?

The results were good IMHO. The geraing down substantially and by end of this year will be down under £ 30mill. This will allow them to make value enhancing
acquisitions like the mentioned they are looking to do.

Re-rating a good possibility.

Results ok, no fireworks though, hence the price not moved much. Hils and Smith is more of a long-term hold as MMs games and poor liquidity and spread make it difficult to make money even in the medium term. Outlook still looks quite good for Hils for this year. I am keeping in the bottom drawer, some not bad dividends to pick up.

With the economy doing better than the critcs anticipated, the Chancellor is in a good position to leave public spending as is. This will keep the unions favourable, and indeed will keep allot of peoples jobs looking rosy for a little longer. Ideal for the up and coming election.

So on this basis, I'm opitimistic, at a jump in the share price of Hill and Smith after the budget is announced. With no cut in public spending, and potentially some favourable news on road building coming. Hill and smith who look, to be one of the companies that will benefit.
Any positive news in road building, has a good chance of giving Hill and Smith some considerable up lift.

My thoughts, therefore, i've taken a position in Hill and Smith, and am looking to a major increase to the middle to long term..I.e a year.

Does anybody know when the results are due? This week or next?

I am disappointed with my timing on this one. Thought that £1.00 was a good price till the market uncertainty drove down prices.

I don't think I will see much upside as the results are probably going to be a bit flat due to higher steel prices.

Oh well, guess I will have to wait a bit longer.

Lighting up the future Mar 4 2004

Evening Mail

Building, construction and infrastructure products group Hill & Smith Holdings has won three Private Finance Initiative contracts to supply street lighting in the UK.

The West Midlands-based group has secured a contract to provide 16 kilometres of highway safety barriers for road works on the M25 near Heathrow Airport.

The M25 contract is the largest ever won by the group for its Varioguard barriers, in the five years that the product has been supplied.

Just bought 20K more at 1.03. its a shake down.

Market cap too too low IMHO for such a steady earner.

We shall see a rerating in good time.

Probably mm's giving it a shake in the hope of picking up some cheap shares prior to results. I'm still holding on, expecting some good news on results day!

Down a bit today, quite surprised really given the recent rise. Looks like a few scared holders selling before results next month? Anyone any thoughts?

looks good for a rise now, pared back abit off its highs but im hoping for a burst north now. bought in just now. rsi looks good, nicely oversold with some large trades coming through. only question though, was the 1.4million trade that went through yesterday a buy or a sell? robbie mentioned a 140p price in next few weeks so maybe that had some influence. i think its because of that trade tho... we shall see in the next few days
