I don't think analysts' meetings have outcomes as such, and there won't be any announcements about it - I think the idea is just to brief people and to answer any questions about the results. What the analysts then do with the information is up to them!

Gorse - the numbers are excellent but the chairman's statement is just as important when looking at results.

Reckon I misread the results. The outlook is full of cautions and warnings. Not clear, of course, where the sales are coming from ... but they're not all tiddler sales. I will hold.

Ouch! Typical. 2 of the companies I have shares in posted results today. Both really good sets of figures. Result....one down 6%, the other down 14%.

Siskinbird - I have to agree that there are negatives in there. I decided to sell to bag a nice 40% profit. Will look to get back in again but all that challenging stuff puts me off in the short term. The dividend is great but I can live without it.

What puzzles me is why the forecast isn't better, I thought the insurance sector was going very well.

Ananlyst meeting can't be going too well... 6.6% down already. It is a difficult job forecasting the market at the mo'!!

Great numbers in the results but quite a few negatives:-

- resignation of finance director
- loss of 3 non-exec directors
- extremely cautious outlook, with worries about competition
- on the investment side, market conditions were "kinder to us than we might have hoped", and the company's profits are arguably made up entirely of the £27m investment income.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the share price once the analysts' meeting (which starts at 10am) is over.....
