Let's see what tomorrow brings - I think the H1 trading update will come out. The AGM statement said a fair bit about where we are so possible not much new information will be revealed.

Good corporate housekeeping to move to a sole broker model and more importantly a useful cost saving. Growing trend amongst small caps i’m noticing.

From the Guardian today: "Hope is back" as German business morale improves. German business morale has improved this month, in a sign that the slump in confidence in Europe’s largest economy may be ending. The IFO Institute’s business climate index, just released, has risen to 86.3, up from 84.5 in October. Although that’s a low level, it shows the outlook has improved.The improved outlook follows unexpected economic growth in the third quarter, with Germany having filled its gas storage tanks to help it through the winter.

Carsten Brzeski, ING’s global head of macro, says the data adds to recent glimmers of hope that the German economy might avoid a winter recession. These hopes are built on the back of several government stimulus packages, filled national gas reserves, a better and faster adaption of businesses and households to reduce gas consumption, and hopes that consumers will simply spend away the energy crisis.

But there are still several downsides hitting the economy, Brzeski adds:

"New orders have dropped since February and inventories have started to increase again, a combination that never bodes well for future industrial production.

Despite some relief in global supply chain frictions, early leading indicators from Taiwan and Korea point to a weakening of global trade in the winter. High energy prices are gradually being passed through to consumers, therefore gradually weighing on private consumption."

Harrogate - personally i have priced Germany in when i topped up at £3.29. HSP has been really good to me over the past 2 years so i will add on any bad news.

...with the divi & the price in a dip, the chances to beat inflation by holding HSP shares look very good imo, much better chances than putting the money in the bank, while sure, in the bank the downside is protected (except the downside due to inflation, which is likely to be quite big if added up over the next few years).

It is good to get that risk off the table for sure but the price will only recover when we get clarity on what is going on in Germany. Maybe that comes to some extent in early December with the TU. With 70p on the cards this year per management it looks very cheap with a great yield. As we have seen before it can move quickly both ways.

I’ve topped up on the confirmation that HS2 is proceeding as planned. I must admit i was a little worried but all good here now IMO.

on the current price there is still a yield of almost 6%.

The last big chunk dropped in at the end of last month!

https://masterinvestor.co.uk/equities/sysgroup-centralnic-and-nine-other-interesting-small-cap-stocks/Hargreaves Services (LON:HSP) – broker's 710p valuationThis is a diversified group that delivers services to both the industrial and the property sectors.The Group's Chairman, Roger McDowell stated that:"I am pleased to confirm that all three business sectors, Services, Hargreaves Land and HRMS, are trading in line with the Board's expectations. The Board remains confident in delivering full year results in line with market expectations."Analyst James Tetley at brokers Singer Capital rates the group's shares as a Buy, fixing a price objective of a very healthy 710p a share.His estimates for the current year to end May 2023 are for revenues to lift to £200.0m (£177.9m), but with adjusted pre-tax profits to ease back to £25.3m (£32.7m), taking earnings down to 71.7p (100.5p), however he sees a slight lift in the dividend to 21.0p (20.40p) per share.With this group's shares having been looking a bit weary prior to the Update it was perhaps not too surprising to see them react upwards to the improving 'vibes' having been up to 405p after last Thursday's AGM.They closed on Friday night at ??? which is still some way away from James Tetley's price objective.There could well be another Update in early December, by which time the price may have stabilised in the 390p – 420p trading range.Hold very tight.

thanks Ninja for sharing that Downing Asset Mnmgt interview video.

(personally I struggle to tolerate the person that asks the questions, Paul Hill, but Judith from Downing is knowledgeable as you'd expect

{{ Paul Hill says that HSP is 'an unbundling play' !..& it has an "industrial products trading" part in Germany. ' "industrial products" !! #@#@+&!! (wrong terminology imo, bulk sales of raw materials & minerals would be more accurate I think)) }}
