24/10/2022 16:05 | clocktower thanks goodness that Boris didn't run for PM again ..that would have created instability I think --- & Boris might be jovial lively company for a few beers but those are not the characteristics needed for a good PM imo ---- Sunak will he & his wife now register as tax resident in the UK !!!! (ffs !) or have they already done that ?? --- as a multimilionaire & his wife & her past interest in minimising her tax payment by being tax resident in India (but living in the UK (!!)), one can not imagine Sunak being too tough on the sector of the stk mkt, dividend taxes , shareholders....alth | ![]() smithie6
24/10/2022 15:12 | Lets hope you are correct Smithie6 and now we have a new PM it might help to settle a lot of nerves in all areas. | ![]() clocktower
24/10/2022 14:27 | Clocktower "...but I fear the current markets do not reward even the best pointers for more than a few days and then bigger traders take profits." I see yr point but I don't fully agree, Pearson for example has done well over the last 3 months & up today with good results. Some company shares have done well, while yes a lot aren't (clothing companies, food delivery companies, home construction etc) ---- if the mkt p/e has reduced that benefits anyone able/willing to put new cash in to the mkt | ![]() smithie6
24/10/2022 14:14 | if 27th Oct AGM statement is received well then phps we see 350-400p & if it goes badly....xxxp !! ------- last year's statement included this The Board remains confident of delivering results for the full year in line with market expectations." hopefully a similar statement might be enough to stop the downtrend on the chart .....is a sh price a balance of greed versus fear....reduce the fear/risk by saying in-line & hopefully the sh price rises ------ we might get a statement of nett cash held including cash paid from the JV up to the UK Plc (with reduced price for pig iron I assume that the reqt for working capital has reduced a bit & the cashflow has also generated cash, reducing the need at the JV of the cash borrowed from the plc, (some was previously repaid, £12 million ?) | ![]() smithie6
24/10/2022 14:13 | sell trades at 320p today 300-310p sell trades just 1 or 2 wks ago. 20p rise is ~6% Is an uptrend starting ?, time will tell. | ![]() smithie6
24/10/2022 12:40 | Hopefully as very positive pointer but I fear the current markets do not reward even the best pointers for more than a few days and then bigger traders take profits. | ![]() clocktower
23/10/2022 18:36 | I bought at ~£4 on the last uptrend, sold some higher up (1/2, 40% ??) & bagged some profit (but phps only by luck 'cause I needed some money to buy another shares that looked cheap) but kept a fair amount. sitting on a loss of ~25%. Bt more at ~320p with the hope that it will recover from here. And get some support from the value of assets/share. Time will tell. (on 27th Oct. we could get a good pointer) | ![]() smithie6
23/10/2022 12:33 | what price had you bt at ? | ![]() smithie6
22/10/2022 12:04 | I couldn't give it any more hours so have sold out. Shouldn't have waited. A big loss. | ![]() daisylove
20/10/2022 18:20 | maybe give it a few hours more ! :-) | ![]() smithie6
20/10/2022 16:12 | Come on folks, I only bought as a punt this morning and I am expecting at least 65p profit on each of the 500 shares I got today, in short shift as well. :-) | ![]() clocktower
20/10/2022 14:11 | daisy 60p no, at least 65p, je je !! just joking | ![]() smithie6
20/10/2022 14:02 | daisylove energy prices yes, things can be done about energy prices Germany is putting in 200,000 million € to subsidise the prices for it in Germany ! | ![]() smithie6
20/10/2022 13:27 | The AGM statement on the 27th will be interesting. | ![]() rimau1
20/10/2022 11:39 | OK - I now get it. So it's a buy at 60p!? With HSP I got a sense that the management team is good but short of closing the business there's nothing much anyone can do about energy prices and the world order. | ![]() daisylove
20/10/2022 11:26 | recycling of waste material (dusts) from steel production makes the jv pig iron it is the only recycling facility in Europe with transport & labour costs it is imo not an option to ship the dust to another continent (USA ?) to get it recycled there (common sense says that the steel producers providing the dust to be recycled will be buyers of the pig iron produced; & perhaps when the transport with dust arrives at the JV it can take back pig iron, & avoid the inefficiency of going back empty ....if so, then everyone involved in that circle is happy ) | ![]() smithie6
20/10/2022 11:23 | pig iron biggest user imo is of course the German steel industry, X (~12 ??) million tonnes a year, so the 285k tonnes of pig iron from the JV is only a small % of the supply biggest end user is the car industry | ![]() smithie6
20/10/2022 11:21 | land bank Harrogate posted I think that he reckoned the UK land bank was valued at cost, at ~£30 million....about 1/6th of the NAV if my maths is correct. (when any land is sold for housing or a warehouse then a much higher relative price per acre is produced ...but there are costs to prepare sites & an annual cost for division staff etc) | ![]() smithie6
20/10/2022 11:05 | I joined the party at 435 thinking that it has 'simply' been hit like so many other stocks like KLR and HILS. To me what constitutes the valuation is confusing but would have thought the current price now represents good long term value. How long the market can keep punishing us remains the $64M question. Can now imagine this at 280. How much of the current share price is truly reflective of the land bank? | ![]() daisylove
20/10/2022 10:19 | I have joined the party with a little punt - just 500 shares, as I have followed the thread some time now. Question about Pig Iron - will they not need it for Tanks etc etc | ![]() clocktower
19/10/2022 20:07 | although I think the housing sector is going in to a slow down & the land division may see harder times as a result....& the profit from the German JV is surely down due to pig iron prices halving ....the risk/reward of the shares at this price, almost half of the peak price, looks decent so I've picked up a few more shares. but a bit difficult mentally since I was already sitting on a loss from shares already held, picked up at just over £4, on the previous rise towards £6. (the cash produced from profitable operation last year & this year is a good chunk of the current sh. price) | ![]() smithie6
19/10/2022 13:11 | good info, thanks for sharing. | ![]() smithie6 |
