There appears to be a keen buyer quite willing to pay above the 'indicative' offer price for a reasonable size trade; during the last two weeks, they've twice paid 1.35p with the indicative offer price showing 1.30p and this morning a 600k trade has gone through @ 1.40p when the offer price was showing 1.35p.

Intriguing.

Maybe the RNS could have read like this......

Its a bit embarrassing that news of a contract win that will help secure are future has leaked so we will play it down buy saying it wont effect this years results, but next year BOOM!!!

I particularly dislike the last sentence of the RNS, none of these is likely to cause the company's performance for the current financial year to exceed expectation. Why they felt they had to say sth like this?

'Hardide plc has appointed Newgate Threadneedle as its advisor for financial PR and investor relations.'

How can an announcement (such as the above) justify the kind of price reaction seen this morning? Have the prospects for the company been improved by it? The Mingy Machs playing their games again; when a few sellers appear I suspect they'll quickly drop the price back again.

Caveat emptor!

edit: Company issued RNS re share price movement as I typed the above

Unfortunately, having decided some time ago to attend next week's AGM and the promised tour of the factory facilities afterwards - my shareholding now warrants much closer attention to anything HDD - the unexpected, sudden death (from a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurism) of a once close boyhood friend in the village where I was born means that I will be attending his funeral on that day instead.

Last year's AGM was well attended apparently so, like pgs2, I'm hoping an ADVFN poster (and HDD shareholder) will report back on the proceedings.

1st - looks to be no big sells gone through. Let's see what happens tomorrow. 2nd - hdd share price has jumped like this before on nothing. That's just through watching it every day for the past umpteen years.3rd - there is news about the aerospace side coming but when is the big question. Again I've been waiting for it for years. Its the only reason I'm here now.

Good news must have been leaked. Can't be up for 28% in one day without any reason. Only 40% up more from break even....

Thanks for the links, nick, the company certainly appears to be making some progressive moves which (hopefully) augurs well for their future.

Tempting as the current price is, with that agressive seller continually off-loading at the sign of any buying activity, I can't see the point. I've got a little 'ammo' ready in the locker and will await the offer price being driven down (by the selling pressure) even further (c. 0.8p?) before seriously considering topping-up.

In the meantime, I'm hoping to get to HDD's AGM next month.

The same old story, the 0.973p marks of so called 'sales' are actually 'buys'
