11/12/2012 11:35 | westfield: worth investing? It will take time but it is clear to me that they are moving into more and more markets especially as they now have the finance to fund an increase in awareness. Obviously what they have is reasonably unique, and is essentially a service to harden many metals (including now - titanium). They do not make widgets that can become obsolete or undercut in price. The only downside I can see is that the products they coat will last much longer than otherwise, so the company will sell less products unless they are in a competitive market where they will sell more until the competitor also uses hardide. However, they are often in products where failure is a very very expensive alternative usually because the downtime to replace is expensive, i.e. an off-shore drilling rig costs >$1m per day. And products such as turbine blades are incredibly expensive to produce because - amongst other things - there are so few of any one blade needed, so the longer they can last the better. Apart from Formula 1 where the coatings are more or less a one-off, almost everything else will be repeat orders, therefore once you've captured the business you have it for 'life'. The other big downside is the fact that because the product lasts so long, it takes seemingly forever to carry out trials. Some of the aerospace trials are into their third year now. I have 2m of these on a very long term hold (at an average of 0.73p). Best wishes - Mike | spike_1
10/12/2012 13:22 | Not an expert, but been here a long time since tipped in shares magazine many moons ago. I'm still in a loss but very hopeful as the company has been moving in the right direction for a while now. Might be worth a small flutter. | nigthepig

23/10/2012 00:44 | Good luck luck with your puchace Spike-1, i bought back in myself the past month after having been a holder on and off in recent years. It dose feel like they have the business on track after a false start a couple of years ago. | quemaster
22/10/2012 12:06 | Couldn't stop myself. Another 0.5m this morning (had to pay 0.134 over full for 2nd traunch though ho hum ;0) Best wishes - Mike | spike_1
28/8/2012 11:59 | Appart from the vagaries of customers such as F1, and the un-even nature of our gas and oil flow control stock building, the vast majority of our new clients will be for coated products on an ongoing basis. Thus almost all business gained will be re-occuring. It is very reasonable to assume therefore, that profit will grow at an ever increasing rate (short to medium term). I'm very tempted to add even more but have 2m and significantly in profit. Best wishes - Mike | spike_1
24/8/2012 08:52 | A most positive reaction to the trading update. The market cap of over £7million remains imo difficult to justify. Nevertheless,HDD is progressing in the right direction. | mudbath

11/6/2012 10:18 | This is the most exciting comment: We have also seen a strong rise in the number of application projects in the pipeline, with specific parts in customer test, in comparison to H1 2011. Best wishes - Mike | spike_1
