Good to see Airbus report improved financials, projecting increased production during 2022. Big HDD customer.

Brent oil futures have jumped 10% since the start of the year but the physical market is still racing ahead, with differentials for some grades hitting multi-year highs, suggesting a tight market will push the futures rally on.

“These are crazy numbers. There clearly is physical tightness,” a North Sea oil trader said.

Key benchmark grade Forties traded at a fresh two-year high on Thursday at Dated Brent plus $1.80 a barrel.

Other North Sea grades have also hit one or two year highs. Prices for key west African grades like Nigeria’s Bonny Light have jumped too since the start of the year.

Hi, I am new to Hardide so cannot compare with anything presented previously. I came away pretty impressed - Phil Kirkham certainly knows his stuff. I thought the presentation was techie-centric rather than finance focussed - depends on your audience? The impression was that the company is not over-dependent on Airbus - not sure about the figures. They have highly-sticky customers, good margins, plenty of spare space/capacity and operational gearing; so on that basis, what's not to like?I thought he handled some quite incisive Q&A rather well, apart from the EIS redemption question that caught him flat-footed. The response to the short-term cash flow was also mediocre, though it sounded as though volume was increasingly quite sharply..I couldn't dial-in to the follow-up discussion session, which was a shame. Cheers, tightfist

Hardide PLC - Oxfordshire-based advanced surface coating technology developer - Outlines upbeat expectations for coming year despite reporting a widened pretax loss for financial 2021 on a 25% decline in revenue. For year ended September 30, pretax loss widens to GBP2.9 million from GBP1.4 million last year on revenue of GBP3.6 million, down from GBP4.8 million. Looking ahead, says demand is now "resurgent" across all sectors and has healthy pipeline of exciting opportunities in both current and new markets. Notes several new contracts including a first large production order received for the coating of gas turbine blades with a European turbine manufacturer and a production order for Airbus A320 aircraft wing components.

"Looking forward, the much improved sales performance in the first months of the current financial year and the considerable pipeline of opportunities augur well for further growth in sales. This provides us with confidence in the group's prospects for 2022 and onwards," says Chair Robert Goddard.

Muted financial results for FY21 as expected, aero and drilling sectors depressed by the pandemic and the decline of oil, but signs that orders are now taking off so we can expect ??? in FY22. Sales north of £5M might see HDD breakeven, but they weren't brave enough to say if that is on the cards. Strong conviction that this is winning technology but hooked on a small number of sectors and customers who remain challenged. The cash situation is making HDD look vulnerable. What looked fair value at 60p and a snip at 40p is now struggling to keep above 30p. Tapping the market at this level would be really disappointing, so what do they do?
