Thank nick, dozey and others for recent news. I think we were pretty sure the HDD facility would be approved, and pretty confident of demand from Airbus and other customers for HDD coatings ... so all we need now are revenues, profits and the share price to respond. Our patience will be rewarded here, 35p is no reflection of the value we saw before covid, the discounted February fund raise at 30.9p to blame. Well exposed to the opportunity ahead.

Here are tha main points: “...

Today, we hold approvals from Airbus, BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin and Leonardo Helicopters, and hold AS 9100 and Nadcap Merit accreditation. We regularly coat parts for BAE Systems’ Eurofighter Typhoon, Lockheed Martin’s F-35 Lightning II and Airbus’ A300 Beluga Super Transporter and A380, the world’s largest passenger aircraft. First orders are expected shortly for a range of Airbus A330 and A320 wing components and we are in the final stages of agreeing a long-term supply arrangement with a major German Tier 1 supplier and arrangements with key UK and European Tier 1 suppliers for coating further A320, A330 and A400M components. First production of these is expected later this year.

At the same time, we have lots of exciting development work underway for a variety of new parts including engine metering valves, reverse thrust actuators, hydraulic cylinder actuators, landing gear actuators, door stops and landing gear pintle pins....”

Thinking of adding to my modest holding with some of the WEY takeover proceeds.

Thanks to nick100 ... "For example, development is progressing well and at a swift pace for the use of Hardide-T coating on components used in the production process of lithium-ion (Li-ion) rechargeable batteries. These are commonly used in electric vehicles"

So the line about EVs was not for vehicle components it was for tooling for EV Li-ion battery cell manufacture, I'm guessing it is Tesla. So Johnwise we understand HDD are not talking about substantial volumes of vehicle components. (Cue another anonymous downthumb and threats to filter).

Nevertheless it is good to read how pro-actively HDD are going about marketing the benefits and potential applications of its coatings. Not just sitting back waiting for the benefits of deals with Airbus and Lockheed Martin, cleverly targetting future growth industries, listening to requirements and developing solutions. Already done the hard bit of investing in capacity, barriers to competition in place. Very happy with how HDD is being managed.

The HDD share price is deflated but these are indeed what someone describes as bottom-draw shares, filed away for the long term.

You could be talking substantial volume of components
regarding US-based manufacturer of electric vehicle

Ah, so Hardide might not have an application for EV components, it is needed in the production toolsets and processes involved in making EVs, the punches and presses and ... I would have thought the number of "very large, US-based manufacturer of electric vehicles" could be narrowed down to one company.

Not quite so exciting then.

From the results.

Recognising the strategic changes taking place in the global energy industry around the drive to 'net zero', the Board has accelerated its strategy to build its position in the alternative energy sector. Several applications have been identified already. For example, development is progressing well and at a swift pace for the use of Hardide-T coating on components used in the production process of lithium-ion (Li-ion) rechargeable batteries. These are commonly used in electric vehicles, as well as in military and aerospace applications. Applications in battery recycling, geothermal, nuclear and biomass energy generation are also being explored. The coating is already embedded into the production process of a European solar energy company, which has major plans for expansion.

Is there any indication what part of the EV the coating is used on? Is there a wider use case?
