I'm sure your more than aware of any retailers lead times from source to supply to shipment???You think during this empedemic when the whole of east Asia shut down that there were fairies and majic pixies making bikes in thier factories for Halfords???Somehow I don't think so sonny!

Hi all,

My mate Peter @Conkers3 and myself did a Twin Petes Investing Podcast a few days ago and part of our discussion covers HFD. We also chatted about the current situation in the Markets and covered loads of Stocks and as always a fair bit of general Portfolio Management educational stuff. Anyway, if you use Apple, Audioboom, Overcast or Spotify you can find it under the 'Conkers Corner' Channel (you want TPI Podcast 24) and you can find it on Soundcloud at the link below.

I hope you enjoy it and find it useful,

Cheers, WD

For sustained increase in cycling there needs to serious investment in bike lanes as in central London. Without this, cycling will decline again once things return to normal. I’m not entirely convinced central and local governments will follow through on promises of investment, considering cycling is revenue negative (less fuel duty, VAT, road tax, train ticket sales etc)

In the news conference today Grant Shaps reiterated the huge investments to be made in cycling in the months and years ahead. Bike use up 300% since the Pandemic began. I think I am correct in saying that Halfords have 25% of the UK market. The sales of bikes and repair work is set to go through the roof and Halfords are perfectly positioned to make the most of it. I think the share price was 6 quid at its peak. Market cap is only 400m so for a billion pound turnover business that a low valuation in my opinion.
Pe ration of 8.

From sharecast....

Households repaid a record £7.4 billion of unsecured debt in April as business borrowing remained near record highs, according to official data that revealed the dramatically different experiences of individuals and companies during lockdown. Consumers paid off £5 billion of credit card debt and £2.4 billion of personal loans over the month, a rate of repayment never seen before, Bank of England figures showed. – The Times

===================================================================================

savings and debt repayment = consumer spending falling = bad news for retailers, bar essentials food and structural changes eg, Bicycles E Scooters = HALFORDS HFD.

Couple of things - firstly I know my local bike shop (not Halfords) and they've had to stop taking bikes in for repair as they had a backlog of over a weeks worth (100 bikes).

Secondly, I'm sure I saw something about a £50 voucher from the government to encourage cycling from 1st June. Any ideas how I can get hold of one?

Guy from a local bike shop on the news saying he had never seen anything like the demand they are getting at the moment way bigger than the Olympic boom of a few years ago.Only have to look on the roads bikes are everywhere.Anyone use their auto centres for serving? Used our local one for the first time this week quite impressed although not much cheaper than dealers but it's much more convenient for me.

They will be sourcing them as much as they can of course. But remember they still have more expensive range and electric bikes, sales on those will def increase due to low stock on other bikes.They offer a good monthly payment option to which will help. I think halfords are going to do extremely well on there bikes, added with all this hot weather!Motoring will also perform well.Wouldn't want to bet against them!!!
