Now that the management have taken decisive decision to trim back the dividend slightly to continue with putting more money into various parts of the business, and development of more business relationships etc, it will only take a modest rise in turnover and profits to seriously re rate the share price in my opinion...exactly the same happened to PETS. That got shorted down to under 100p but as soon as the profit started rising again the shares went through a massive re rate to 300p within 12 months, yet PETS appear to have more debt, less turnover and a far higher PE ratio compared to HFD. The BOD's investment plans really appear to be coming through now I believe. I'll just sit back collect the dividends and wait for 300p plus......Adyor!!!

What is surprising is Shell sent me an email this morning with my 10% discount voucher but I've not seen it actually announced anywhere. The offer applies to all bikes but not to satnavs and stereos. This could really boost in-store turnover.

Can't deny that that seems likely, but I'll keep watching Kinwah. Thanks for the heads up, as you say might explain the rise.

Stumpy you've missed HFD unfortunately. They have announced a tie up promotion with Shell Go+ members until October where they will get a 10% in-store discount on more or less everything. That's a brilliant saving on car batteries etc. Hopefully the jump in turnover will make up for the margin squeeze. Explains this week's share price rise.

Just a matter of time before shorts start panicking as they see their positions getting expensive to hold on to. Dividends to pay for as well

Hello Stupmy and others. I've dipped my toe in with some purchases today. I really can't see any reason to be negative at this point. We must have had most of the bad news. Halfords is in one of the most interesting parts of retail - a dreadful sector I know but I like the service element to its business.
