Yes it will pass and GVC medium/long term looks really good. However if there is a bill of £700m to pay next year it won't make the balance sheet look very good.I'm sure GVC will continue to expand overseas and reduce its reliance on a single over ripe market. CM

Agreed CM. Currently GVC and many AIM shares are reactive to uncertainty in politics, government and currency. What we are seeing is a mini version of next year's Brexit. There are bargains out there. But shares may go lower. In the current climate of fear even exceptional results are just ignored. The market hates uncertainty. But it will pass.

It's simple. YesterdayBrexit deal done - Government won't fall and FOBT implementation date means LADS payment of £700m is not an issueSp - upTodayBrexit deal chaos (as if it wasn't inevitable), government likely to fall and GVC likely to be sued for the £700mSp- downCM

The average shop retail leases are very short term, less then 3 years and many of the retail outlets employ very few staff compared to a few years ago.

Seen this time and time again where a share enters the ftse100 and drops like a stone. I should have known better than to invest even further. Maybe the retail shop leases are now more of a concern than previously wirh the date coming forward and redundancy payouts as well?

From BBC news:

"Investors appeared to welcome the recommendations, as shares in gambling firms have climbed, with Ladbrokes Coral-owner GVC Holdings 8% higher and William Hill shares up 2.23%.

After the government brought forward the FOBT deadline, it meant GVC Holdings was spared a major cash payment to former Ladbrokes shareholders, analysts said."

The government is today announcing that the implementation of changes to reduce the stakes of B2 Gaming Machines from £100 to £2 will take place in April 2019...

... After a thorough consultation with interested parties, including charities, campaigners and the gambling industry, across government we reached a decision to make this significant change in October 2019...

... Parliament has, however, been clear that they want this change to be made sooner. The Government has listened and will now implement the reduction in April 2019.

In order to cover the negative impact on the public finances, and to protect vital public services, this change is being linked to an increase in Remote Gaming Duty, paid by online gaming operators. The Finance Bill will also be amended so that the increase to Remote Gaming Duty comes into effect in April 2019...

The only way the CVR will have any value is if there is a general election and the Finance Bill goes out of the window!

Shame really would have loved it to be enacted after 29 March which I think is the cut off date for a 35p CVR for former Ladbrokes shareholders! Still a 2 day window I guess!!

The legislative bill resulting from the 2018 Autumn Budget received its second reading on the 12 November so it will be enacted very shortly. As the £2 threshold equates to the CVR having nil value its difficult to see anyway in which the rights become of value.

Happy to hear a different opinion?

Thanks privileged. You are quite right - clumsy wording on my part!

Today's news removes the uncertainty on the issue and that is obviously having a positive impact on the share price
