28/11/2017 09:37 | Whether GVC is the acquirer or the acquiree, the newsflow over the next six months should be very strong - what we already know are in the pipeline are the conclusion of the BWIN integration, details of the new Russian venture and the fast-approaching World Cup 2018 for which we should be superbly positioned to profit. Not only does the disposal of the Turkish business make GVC a more upright suitor, it also perhaps makes for a less-blushing bride? | woodhawk
28/11/2017 08:53 | f Yes with all this consolidation, it would be wrong to think we are in a position to only be the acquirer. The big shop players have had a shake up of their industry due to the internet and fobt that I feel will propel them into now moving on from old markets. That is towards the onliners in a way to get a very large percentage of their revenue, and this in my honest opinion is by acquisition and gvc are the diamond with the diamond geezer ceo. 22/11/2017 11:13 | L Good post as always, not harp. | srpactive
22/11/2017 09:55 | Good points loganair (I tend to agree) but as we all know until the FOBT review is done we are all just passing the time pleasantly discussing possible options with fellow shareholders.Once the review is finalised the logjam ought to break and there may well be a very interesting few months ahead.Until then we can only speculate.CM | cheshiremoggie
22/11/2017 09:42 | Harping on about it every single day won't make it happen anytime soon, loganair. At least 2-3 months away, after the FOBT consultation is concluded next year, if it ever happens, imo. | woodhawk
22/11/2017 09:31 | Why do I think GVC may make another bid for Lads: 1. Lads has a huge customer base. 2. The average lease length is just 3.6 years means good possibly of closing a good number of Lads retail outlets down. 3. compared to Hills, Lads on-line is around double the size. 4. Will most probably be able to buy Lads for £1bln less then the offer GVC made a few months ago. 5. Compared to even just a few months ago, GVC shares are worth a good deal more, therefore will need to offer fewer number of shares in any take over of Lads. | loganair
21/11/2017 20:41 | I started at 100p, then when it dropped to 79p as you did Mylands, and continued. CM Good feedback and thank you. I only mentioned Amaya after it was raised here by another poster, but remember they wanted to buy bpty at the time we did, so if they were interested when bpty were a loss making basketcase wouldn't it make sense to think they would be when our KA has turned it into a profit machine as the US onlining is opening? Just a question, and yes well done all that bought the dip. | srpactive
21/11/2017 18:45 | Full marks for sticking with it mylands! | woodhawk
21/11/2017 18:21 | Or even 12 years! First invested on 7th Dec 2005 at £3.64. Got my timing wrong by about fifteen months too early when I was then buying at £1.18 in March 2007. Still, it all came right in the end, thanks Kenny. | mylands
21/11/2017 18:21 | If Stars and GVC merge then the combined company would have a massive stranglehold on poker worldwide. Are competition authorities going to take that lying down? I don't think that is true: Online stars already have a massive stranglehold, adding partypoker would make little difference. It has little following (currently) Live WSOP and WPT are the main contenders with Stars. Party has got off to a good start with the addition of John Duffie to the team, and it has GREAT promise, but still has a long way to go. | rbcrbc
21/11/2017 18:14 | Or even 7 years Moggie! | festario
21/11/2017 17:48 | srp. I agree that unsubstantiated media talk is not to be trusted, but when you hear the same thing in different ways from different sources, you make a judgement. After all we are not privy to inside info (at least I'm not!) and you have to come to conclusions based on what is being said. Statements by CEOs, however, are more certain as they should not be making false statements that could affect the share price If KA says they are not in talks and they are... its a lie. There is absolutely no evidence of a pending tie up between Stars and GVC except for what you have said here. How should I judge what you say then? However... Good point about how long the statement applies rh2. Who knows? Also well done all those who bought at the recent low. GVC seems to do this regularly with the low of under £6 early this year being the prime example. In fact, well done anyone who has invested here in the last 5 years or so... CM. | cheshiremoggie
21/11/2017 17:06 | Thanks, fizzy. Somehow, I always seem to get lucky with GSK - hope it holds!! Picked up a load at 1300p today - current yield over 6%. | woodhawk |
