Well, you may be right, but we'll be more certain in due course, next year when the FOBT decision is made.

It seems to me that many say that the stake will be reduced to between £20 and £30, therefore it is likely that Lads revenue will be reduced by between £80m and £100m or around 5% of its annual turn over.

Of course they can estimate the poss impact if it's a certain figure. BUT they still don't know WHAT figure it is (i.e. could be neglible, could be £84M, could be £437M per annum).

The Financial Times has suggested that because of these results, it is able to estimate how much Ladbrokes stands to lose if the government’s consultation passes the stake reduction.

It has concluded the company would stand to lose just under a fifth of its annual revenues. It stated: “Analysts at Barclays forecast that a cut to £50 would have a negligible impact, a cut to £25 would cut £84m in revenues, but a cut to £2 would result in Ladbrokes Coral losing £437m.”

I see FT Lex column is still pushing merits of GVC Ladbrokes today and stated that GVC has made 2 previous offers.

Hoping the bottom is now in place at circa 860p yesterday. Looking for return to previous high at 963p-ish now - hopefully in time for Dec/Jan special divi, with new Russian venture starting to fire up and 2018 World Cup fast approaching.

That was my reading - same as it ever was. Still, for GVC Germany going legit would be the best result now that they have the brands and the marketing sown up.

Noujay

Thanks for the link. For me, this is the relevant paragraph from the article:

'Although the latest ruling came as a further affirmation of the existing online gambling ban, it did not change significantly the nation’s gambling landscape, which is shaped by rather fuzzy regulations and lack of accord between the leaders of Germany’s sixteen states.'

Just out of interest, does Germany allow land based
operators?

Can you expand on German news please Trent? It represents GVC last significant grey market.I am aware of the VAT aspect where 888 have a large provision for potential liability whereas GVC have twice taken counsel and decided there is nothing to answer and therefore no provision required.

No Italian team at next years world cup - not a big market for GVC I suspect.

Thanks for the info Noujay, TEB and Festy - good to see share price has recovered a little since I've been out. Anyway was looking pretty oversold on a CCI reading of -98, which is the lowest this year, as far as I could see.

TEB, but it's of little consequence to GVC, as they operate offshore.. and the revenue will continue uninterrupted.Maybe some have not understood that.

Can't believe LCL are still taking on leases with a 10yr term certain. Would've thought they would limit leases to 5yr term certain at most. I fail to get excited by the prospect of a GVC-LCL combination.

KA doubtless has a masterplan. It's just that we (including the media) don't know what it is & are flailing around trying to second guess him. Wouldn't surprise me if he popped up with something completely left-field.

In view of his past performance at the helm of GVC, I for one am more than happy to let him get on with it. {Even more} Value will out in the end and we get to enjoy the nice dividends in the meantime. Aimho

I don't think can blame shorts on this one. Just some profit taking, of which I myself have been "guilty" (although with an insignificant holding) as decided to reduce my position and lock in some profits - was due a pullback (as is the broader market). Current pricing starting to look attractive again for a top-up - would not be surprised to see a bit more weakness though first ... but longer-term, pretty sure this will prove another temporary blip on the march higher, with 2018 looking good as everyone knows.

But then it's thanks to them that we can possibly buy cheaper than we might otherwise do. So who are the real winnners?

It's the likes of Marshall Wace that are doing the damage here, though they are the only shorters with a declarable interest above 0.5%.

You only have to look at the volome traded today to see that the shorters are having a heyday. Sell a few tens of thousands of shares they don't own and buy them back 29p cheaper in a few hours.

C'est la vie.

As KA has stated we will double organically in four years,
leave it at that, and pay massive dividends.

Oh well, if we didn't have these occasional pullbacks, we wouldn't make such monsterous profits later, would we? I couldn't resist some more at 863p, fizzy!
