That`s not news or for that matter true.I have a five figure holding having slimmed down in February ( see my posts at the time) and if the news becomes fact will buy back in like everyone else

But all we have to go on is another meeting albeit with lots of optimism as each side sits down saying "I am glad that we all agree that you agree with me" following which each party goes away and argues about what they thought was agreed.

I hope there is real news of a breakthrough and it does seem likely that Iraq and Turkey have a new understanding but I`ll wait for APIKUR for the company fortunes.

beer thanks for an impossible task.

I think we had better wait until APIKUR make a statement to the world although oil flowing would be a good sign that they accept the agreed terms.

Why is it that I no longer get excited by these Sunday night revelations. Without back payments and future payments plan it's a risky move putting oil in the pipeline. Would be very nice if the ducks are getting organised in a row type pattern. Time will tell Fingers crossed

Regardless of such nonsense, Turkey are refusing to pay Iraq, simple.

The pipeline was closed by Turkey.

If no issue, why does it remain closed?

ERBIL (Kurdistan 24) – Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw on Sunday received Liu Jun, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Erbil, according to a statement from the governor's office.

In the meeting, both sides discussed the procedures for issuing visas to Kurdistan Region citizens by the Chinese consulate, as all preparations have been made for a start date in Jan. 2024.

The Chinese envoy praised the progress in Erbil and emphasized the significance of Erbil as a historical and ancient city.

Mr. Jun hoped that the long-standing friendship between the Kurdistan Region and China in the fields of trade, industry, agriculture, and tourism would be further developed.

Another topic of discussion was the construction of an Erbil park with Sino-inspired design elements. Construction of the project, to be jointly managed by the Chinese Consulate and the office of the Khoshnaw, is set to commence soon on an area of 15,000 square meters.

Furthermore, Mr. Jun officially invited the Erbil governor to visit China and expressed his desire for Erbil to become a sister city of one of his country's cities.

Beijing and Erbil share close economic ties. In Sept. 2022, a Chinese investor submitted a proposal for a $5 billion tourist city in Erbil. The 2,000 sqm project, dubbed Happy City, would create 8,000 jobs and include areas for tourism, residences, and entertainment.

In another example of Chinese investment in the Region, China Power Investment Corporation (also known as PowerChina) recently contracted with the Kurdish company Dabin Group to build a 6,000-ton capacity cement plant near Safin Mountain in Erbil Governorate.

The project, which provides 1,000 job opportunities during the construction phase and includes a 52-megawatt power plant, will be finished in under two years, Kamaran Dosky, the plant’s chief executive officer, said in a speech. He added that the factory is “strategicR21; in the long term for the Kurdish region.

Shafaq News/ Experts are optimistic about the prospects for an agreement between Baghdad and Erbil on the oil file for the Kurdistan Region.
Speaking to Shafaq News Agency, Kurdish oil expert Gorfed Sherwani said that the visit of the Federal Minister of Oil to Erbil on Sunday reflects the seriousness of the Iraqi government.
"The visit shows that the two sides are ready to discuss the tactical, administrative, and financial aspects of resuming oil exports from the region," Sherwani said.
He added that the main disagreement between the two sides is over the vision for the oil law. The Kurdish government wants to maintain its autonomy, while the federal government wants more control.
"The Constitution guarantees a clear role for the federal government, the regions, and the oil-producing provinces," Sherwani said. "We hope that this will be taken into account in the distribution of responsibilities for managing the oil file."
Sherwani also said that the estimates for the cost of oil production in the region vary. The federal government estimates that it costs $12 per barrel to produce oil and $7 per barrel to transport it. The Kurdistan Regional Government estimates that it costs $24 per barrel to produce oil and $8 per barrel to transport it.
"These figures are realistic and are in line with what is paid to foreign companies that sign a contract with the Federal Ministry of Oil," Sherwani said.
