13/5/2024 16:09 | I think this Co's process is more like panther securities if anyone remembers them? Often a good read! | jppp
13/5/2024 16:06 | Rose, There is a 3rd category. Those who have traded this several times over the last 20 years. Holding shares that cost nothing and having banked excess profit. I have a B/E for my current tranches but solely iro those purchases in isolation. I suspect many here are in that boat. | sageman
13/5/2024 15:52 | Thank you for that Master Class, Phillis. | theapiarist
13/5/2024 15:45 | The shareholders are not doing well. Only ex-shareholders are able to make money from Griffin, because you are not rewarded for holding the share, only for selling (and then only if you get the timing right), and the new shareholder who bought won't be rewarded either, until he becomes an ex-shareholder (and then only if he gets the timing right). The last man to hold will be a loser. | rose_by_another_name
13/5/2024 15:44 | In response Mr B I would hope there would be some evidence that the New Board is having some influence - but my hopes are not that high When I was in the hot seat the following was a rough sequence of events: Agreed major messages and tone with FD FD produced first draft I made suggestions for revision, debate ensued An agreed version was shown to the Chairman His suggestions were generally booted into touch 😏 Final draft was circulated to Non Execs and brokers Minor suggestions inserted and final check for punctuation and grammar ( including split infinitives) Final final release lodged with Stock Exchange | phillis

13/5/2024 15:42 | Who got the balls to admit they're ticking down or are you just a keyboard coward? | zooman
13/5/2024 15:39 | I too had the same impression as you, Sage. But 2012 was some time ago and the memory can play tricks. My memory is crystal clear however on the reaction in some quarters to the $110 million cost!! But with hindsight it was a smart deal as we might not be mining now without it. | theapiarist
13/5/2024 15:21 | And the Chairman would be right, the shareholders are doing very well. Happy days the BoD are doing a good job, I'm sure there are those who will disagree. .As for Roger doing the write up. Err, isn't that his job? Nothing like stating the obvious. :-(( | zooman
13/5/2024 15:16 | If I am wrong on 2037 please feel free to correct me. I thought that the 88.8% JV was inline with the license. From memory 25 years from 2012. Thanks in anticipation. | sageman
13/5/2024 15:08 | "any views of EPS?" Yes. But I always get CofS or smelter costs wrong or both. | theapiarist
13/5/2024 14:56 | I got 2 down votes. So I'm happy! Yes, Roger will write it and will end with a full stop. I hope Ninkov will be effusive, and expect him to be... any views of EPS? JPPP | jppp
13/5/2024 14:48 | What do you think will happen, Phillis? Perhaps I could get the ball rolling. Roger will indeed write the body of the announcement - ending the occasional sentence with a preposition. Ninkov will, once again, tell us that he couldn't be happier for us lucky shareholders. And to underline that last point, and against all the odds, he will announce a 2p final dividend. We may interpret "final" in whatever way we choose. | theapiarist
13/5/2024 13:27 | So Sage , got that off your chest now? Don’t worry too much you’ll get used to it- we find it happens all the time So what do you think will happen when the results are announced Will history repeat itself i.e. Roger writing most of the text ( including split infinitives) with the mandatory gushing final paragraph from the Chairman Or Will we get a strategic update re future intentions that shows the non Execs are bringing some pressure to bear | phillis
13/5/2024 10:48 | Sage, I'd like to congratulate you on your 3 downticks! Tremendous, well done! They seem to be busier at weekends, but i'll probably prove that wrong now. Metal prices generally doing well, I'm thinking about more silver exposure but haven't yet found the right vehicle. Too many threads to add my h'penny to, but good to see some debate. very interesting article in the Torygraph at the W/E about China reducing its exposure to the $, partly by buying gold. After Russia had its overseas assets (rightfully in my opinion) frozen after they attacked Ukraine, China is said to be trying to avoid that risk should they go into Taiwan (and generally - to stop $ being global reserve currency and all those benefits that bestows), by buying gold and investing where they can avoid/not benefit the $. I can believe it. so the question to me, is "have they got enough gold, or will they buy more"? My guess is they buy more as their surplus has to go somewhere and they haven't finished with the $. (And will that drag silver up? - secondary and less relevant question...) Results soon. GLA JPPP | jppp |
