"Person" is neither male nor female, which is the
point. Use of the "man" suffix is often considered
to give rise to gender bias, as if implying that,
for instance, "sage" people may be automatically
be expected to be male.

I don't "call" myself Rose. I employ a username
which is part of a quote from Shakespeare. As has
been discussed in here in the past, the quote
refers to Romeo. Even as a name, it would be a
mistake to assume it was necessarily feminine.
There are many people of both genders bearing Rose
as a surname.

I am surprised at how many people in here who don't
care about a subject are prepared to go on and on
about it. I was asked why I had substituted "person"
for "man" and I replied.

I don't care what people are, its who they are and how they treat others that's? important.Zooman, for me comes from a connection I had with a zoo a long time ago when I was going out with a zoo managers daughter and got the nick name at the rugby club. I've been here as Zooman since 2005 on ADVFN and iii from the nineties. I've never seen a post questioning someone's gender in that fashion before. Unbelievable! Zooman.

All. please let's not get into deep PC issues here or try making assumptions or assertions about bulletin board names. Just for example I am not nor have never been a football hooligan, I don't support millwall the moniker derived from millwall FC being my first ever share purchase many many years ago and before I joined bulletin boards . It was chosen as a fan of millwall shares which had made me my maiden major profit albeit peanuts in today's terms. For the record I have been an armchair supporter of Tottenham since primary school but you will have to forgive me for that lol
