03/10/2022 12:09 | While I am not a big fan of every move being MM games (they mostly trade in line with the underlying demand in order to keep a neutral book), it does seem like recent mark downs were intended to scare any nervous holders into selling, and instead have been met with shrewd buying, mainly from Shareholder7. If they try this too many times they’ll end up short of stock! | dangersimpson2
03/10/2022 10:50 | Sell of 102011 was a buy. Thank you MM | shareholder7
02/10/2022 21:38 | The issue re a takeover is Martin Ooi with 30% , it would need his support and he knows Goldplat's true worth - unlikely DRD would pay the premium he would insist on, but you never know, fingers crossed. | shill10
01/10/2022 17:56 | Does anyone have any thoughts about DRD Gold and their plans for their business line, "Far west gold recoveries"? From my point of view, they are building up quite a substantial gold recovery business in Johannesburg. They write on their website that they want to "extend beyond potential resources in the West Rand." DRD has the cash flow to make a significant acquisition. My thinking is that it would make sense to acquire Goldplat (economies of scale). They would get a second plant in Johannesburg, a lot of material to process, and a second site in Ghana. Is it not likely that DRD will acquire Goldplat, or am I missing something? | pog1234
28/9/2022 18:12 | Thanks Danger. Yes they sort of let you buy £5k in the morning and then you can't buy any more. What I have found is certain times of the day you can get this amount but today they got it all wrong as there were not a lot of sales and they just marked the share down. After all the years I have been holding GDP it's just the best performing share I have pulling up all my losing so called good ones. For all of us that have been here a long time we know this is going higher and the STG gold price and more importantly the rand gold price is going up. It's the dollar that is causing all the issues as it's so strong Well done GDP and Martin Ooi ?? thank you | shareholder7
28/9/2022 17:37 | Well done! Great timing on that one, it looks like the MM's were the ones who were mugged! | dangersimpson2
28/9/2022 17:13 | The 105168 was unbelievable a buy from me and not a sale. Very happy, I also added another 52,000 at just below that price as well | shareholder7
28/9/2022 17:04 | A bit on DRD; In FY2020, Ergo had a 3.13 million ounce (Moz) reserve and a 7.79Moz resource. In the last reported period, the six months to December 31, 2020, Ergo retreated 11.3Mt with an average yield of 0.202 g/t to produce 2 269 kg of gold at a cash operating cost of 581 402 rand/kg. The average gold price received was 988 998 rand/kg, yielding a margin of more than 40%. | kimboy2
28/9/2022 17:01 | Hello, I'd like to report a mugging. Between 10:12 - 10:49 this morning. 11,243, 20,000 and 105,168 shares. Seriously, though, it is amazing the power of difficult markets to get investors to sell cheap stocks with good prospects simply because the general market sentiment is negative. Sometimes it's leverage that gets people, or needing the cash, or simply an overly emotional response. The moral is never to be a forced seller on a down day. | dangersimpson2
28/9/2022 15:59 | Looks like the sale is over... | arlington chetwynd talbott
28/9/2022 13:50 | This is a very very good point as the USD is going through the roof and you would expect all assets in dollars to fallOil Bitcoin GoldYou really need to look the £ to EUR or see if we are slipping and the news it not pointing this out as we are slight down against the EURThe dollar is killing a lot of fiat currencies and very happy to be in GDP while all this is going onHappy too the market makers are lowing the price a long wit other shares and buying although they are show as sales | shareholder7
28/9/2022 12:56 | Probably a good time to remind everyone that Gold is sold in US Dollars!Isn't this going to have a huge positive impact on earnings ? | dinky00
28/9/2022 06:58 | The new Chairman is not independent from Caracal. | russman
26/9/2022 17:55 | Thought GDP got shot of Kili for financial reasons. Now it appears the new Chairman has numerous conflicts of interest. | russman
26/9/2022 16:18 | I think GKG is a good appointment. He knows the business well and is passionate about its success. Robinson was a nice chap and a safe pair of hands, but I never got the feeling that he was particularly passionate about the industry or company - I always felt that he was more interested in being a company chairman than the company he was chairman of. All just my personal opinion, of course. Having been brought back in by Martin Ooi, GKG clearly knows that the short-term message is shareholder returns in the form of buybacks and dividends, but he won't risk the company's future for short-term gain. (He has enough experience of challenging times from when he was CEO.) He has enough industry contacts and knowledge to help develop the business but is not so caught up in it that he wouldn't look to sell if the right offer came along. The first test will be getting the results out in a timely fashion and communicating the shareholder return strategy well. | dangersimpson2
26/9/2022 14:58 | Kimboy, Gerard and Martin clearly have a close relationship. Gerard's main interest is now Caracal and not GDP. IMV, it is likely GDP jettisoned Kili because it suited both Gerard and Martin. Although Martin owns nearly 30% and is a Director, he does not have day-to-day decision making authority. Martin would need to feel sufficiently strongly about a decision he did not agree with to call a vote (which he would likely win) but I don't know where he would draw that line. I also think his relationship with Gerard may skew him to support Caracal if asked. | lowtrawler
26/9/2022 10:34 | It isn't Gerard's decision to invest in GCAT. It is Martin Ooi's. The reason that they jettisoned Kili was because Martin Ooi refused to support further investment in it, IMV. | kimboy2
26/9/2022 09:17 | I'll bow to the superior knowledge of kimboy and others regarding suitability of Gerard. My main concern is Caracal and whether we will be dragged into support of that business. I would much rather we sold our remaining shares and cut ties. | lowtrawler
26/9/2022 08:07 | Don't forget he has skin in the game as well as great knowledge of the market. It's a very good move | shareholder7
26/9/2022 07:53 | Well, I don't have a problem with Gerrard though some might. Clearly Martin Ooi doesn't as he has obviously chosen him. | kimboy2
25/9/2022 10:46 | yep, Kimbot, that really is the best of all world's right now | shill10
23/9/2022 23:42 | I will take GDP over a KEFI or the like any day. | arlington chetwynd talbott
23/9/2022 12:02 | ...and reported in the plunging pound. | kimboy2
23/9/2022 10:16 | good point, Kimboy, another positive for gold-plate, costs in depreciating rand, revenues in the soaring $ | shill10
23/9/2022 08:58 | The gold price in dollars is down about 15% in the last 6 months but up 5% in rand. | kimboy2 |
