10/8/2022 13:02 | Would like to see GDP buying but maybe that is not on ahead of the figures. | arlington chetwynd talbott
09/8/2022 12:25 | Bought another 100k earlier. No sign of the trade though......... Figures shortly will be good. | philjeans
05/8/2022 16:19 | Its still not reached what I thought would be its new trading range. The trading volumes over the past few weeks have been tiny and so no imperative for the price to move. It appears to me the move today is just an attempt by the MM's to generate some trading interest. They will know the update is out next week and so will likely nudge things up in preparation for some higher volume. | lowtrawler
05/8/2022 13:46 | Nice to see it edging up, finally. | arlington chetwynd talbott
03/8/2022 17:19 | There are 2 things I will be most interested in from the announcement: 1. Our cash in hand; 2. Any update on TSF contracts. Anywhere around £2m operating profit for the quarter will be fine. I'm hoping cash in hand will be sufficient to fund the TSF development, continue share buybacks AND announce a dividend. Probably hoping for too much. | lowtrawler
03/8/2022 15:21 | Q4 update was issued last year on 5 August so this years could be out any day now | camerongd53
27/7/2022 14:32 | Thanks for that Kimboy. Everything will be revealed in the next couple of weeks. Given they had made over £6m operating profit at end Q3 and the Q3 figures were over £2.25m, I will be surprised if the full year is less than £8m. More of a guess is how much of the operating profit will be attributable. I suspect it may not quite reach £4m. Non-operating adjustments are notoriously difficult to forecast. | lowtrawler
27/7/2022 14:21 | In the past year the rand price of gold has risen 10.8%. The SA inflation rate is 7.4%. | kimboy2
27/7/2022 14:06 | The Rand & Cedi have been weak, though. So yes, they will face inflation, but certain things like labour cost rises will be mitigated by their costs being in local currencies. | dangersimpson2
27/7/2022 11:29 | Maybe a bit less than that as my working assumption is that their costs have risen sharply with inflation as they have for pick and shovel miners. I would be overjoyed if your figures were on the money though! | arlington chetwynd talbott
26/7/2022 14:02 | Norry, I can understand your concerns. GDP have been habitually undervalued for years. There are a number of reasons to be optimistic for the immediate future: 1. Martin Ooi is now in charge of generating shareholder value and as he holds almost 30%, he is well incentivised. 2. They did some share buybacks recently and we can reasonably expect those to continue at some stage. 3. They are generating sufficient cash to also introduce a dividend. 4. After years sitting on the back-burner, they seem well positioned to commence exploiting the TSF and that is likely to be worth our current share price. Their past difficulties have resulted from moving into pet projects that failed to pay-off. The only current initiative that may fall into a similar category is their expansion into South America. IMV, if they introduce a dividend, it will bounce the price over 10p. If they manage to unlock the TSF, a special dividend of over 10p could be on the cards as the cash is realised. If their improved trading profit is consolidated and becomes the norm, dividends could reach 2p or more and the share price 20p (without the TSF). | lowtrawler
26/7/2022 13:20 | It is difficult to understand the low market valuation. I am tempted to buy more but put off by the lack of dividend and the seeming longevity of below realistic share price | norry2
26/7/2022 12:40 | Looks like my purchase on 7 July anticipating a rise into what I consider their new range: 8.6p - 9.6p failed. unless people are expecting a poor 4th quarter, I don't really understand why we have not bounced. Still, I'm happy with my top-up and will add more as funds allow. | lowtrawler
25/7/2022 17:28 | What are you anticipating ACT? I reckon around £8m operating profit for the year which will likely translate into somewhere around £4m of attributable profit. It will put us on a PER of a little over 3. However, we will probably have well over £2m cash in hand + the TSF. If we continue growth over the next 12 months, we may get to £5m attributable and > £5m cash. | lowtrawler
24/7/2022 10:19 | Update in a couple of weeks. I cannot wait - not something I would say about most of my precious metal plays. | arlington chetwynd talbott
14/7/2022 16:21 | ACT, I am highly sceptical over GCAT and would prefer us to close our position in them. The size of team on-site at Kili suggests they will be looking at huge AISC, particularly at 1.5g/t gradings. It's a sideshow to what GDP are attempting to achieve and they would be better turning it into cash. | lowtrawler
14/7/2022 15:14 | Nice to see GCAT doing better. | arlington chetwynd talbott

11/7/2022 12:26 | Here's hoping for a buy consensus! Unexciting though it may be, there is a lot to be said for the robust business model here. | arlington chetwynd talbott

09/7/2022 10:40 | It would be great to see it back in that range ahead of the coming (early Aug?) update. That update could then see it in double figures. But the gold price probably needs to cooperate for all that happen and I am not sure it will with a 75bps Fed hike looming at the end of this month. One day the gold price is going to pass a very harsh judgement on the Fed, but it is probably going to make us wait for that. | arlington chetwynd talbott
07/7/2022 15:08 | I topped up my holding this morning. I believe it has fallen below what should be its new range which I believe is 8.6p -9.6p. If I'm correct, the price should move back into range within a couple of weeks.I still believe we will get a couple of steps up this year. Firstly through our strong operating results generating buybacks / dividends, and; secondly through TSF related announcements. I will be surprised if we aren't trading into double figures by the end of this year. | lowtrawler
07/7/2022 10:14 | They have no active buyback in place so won’t be buying any in the short term. They should be able to easily afford a further buyback but perhaps will wait to get the Q4 operational report out first. At current levels the buyback makes more sense than a higher dividend, although I know others have strong feelings about this. What I don’t like about the buyback is the execution from their broker. They aggressively bought early in the day and ended up almost always paying the highest price of the day. I’m not a great fan of MM conspiracy theories, but in this case, the market makers appeared happy to fill them at the high of the day and then drop the bid to encourage sellers. If they do have another buyback I’d want to see much better execution from their broker, otherwise we might as well have the dividends and reinvest ourselves. What is clear from the last few days is that you absolutely do not want to be a forced seller in stocks like this, or be the numpties who panic sold at the bottom because the general market or dollar gold price happened to fall one day. Managing the emotional side of investing is at least as important as the analytical side. | dangersimpson2 |
