15/3/2022 10:44 | I bought at 2.5p , I know what this share is like. Of course any share could go lower, but the fundamentals are way, way better than back then, look at the profit after tax, cash balance , rid of Kili - you won't get 6p unless we get a major stock mkt selloff imo | shill10
15/3/2022 10:38 | Just because the price is crazy low doesn't mean it won't fall further. I picked up some in March 2020 for 3.2p and the fundamentals back then we're as strong as they are today. In reality, any price between 7p and 8p is normal for GDP and so you need to be looking below 7p if bargain hunting. I'm holding a chunk of cash at the moment but will only be tempted to increase my holding if I can buy below 6p. | lowtrawler
15/3/2022 10:28 | yep - crazy mark down , bought more 7.3p and lower, whoever is selling here is mad. | shill10
15/3/2022 09:55 | Because gold (and pretty much everything else) is down in anticipation of the first Fed rate hike? For once I managed to top up at what (I hope) was the low. | arlington chetwynd talbott
15/3/2022 09:48 | Why are we down 10% in the first hour of trading ? | dinky00
15/3/2022 01:06 | We're all hoping it comes with the interim results announcement this month. It may not. There is still a lack of transparency over dividend intentions and so all discussions on this board around dividends should be taken as speculative. | lowtrawler
14/3/2022 18:24 | So when is the big dividend or no dividend reveal? | arlington chetwynd talbott
14/3/2022 17:24 | shill10, I've been involved in setting dividend levels a couple of times in my career. The starting point is a Board decision to announce a dividend. Soundings are then taken from the brokers and major shareholders as to their dividend expectations. In the case of GDP, they likely only need to discuss with Martin. The Finance Director then produces a paper which suggests a sustainable dividend level based on expected trading performance, future investment needs and suitable contingency. The paper will usually project a few years forward to ensure the dividend can be sustained over an extended period. In the case of GDP, pog will create trading volatility but trading projections are likely to suggest ongoing profitability of over £4m even if gold were to fall back to 1600. Announcing a maiden dividend of less than 50% sustainable profits should not unduly stress the business and provide scope for future increases. I believe 1.5p would be an upper limit to the available dividend. The BOD and management have had the benefit of strong cash generation over recent years which allowed them to become lazy. Removing the excess cash will require them to more actively manage the business and become more efficient. I expect the BOD to argue for a lower dividend to keep their comfortable approach and for Martin to argue higher. I will be very disappointed at anything below 0.8p. | lowtrawler
14/3/2022 12:59 | I agree but there must be some discussion on this as pog affects profits significantly | shill10
14/3/2022 09:09 | Commodity prices should have little bearing on the maiden dividend. Our ongoing business has been making steady profits of over £3m for several years regardless of pog. The idea is to start around 1p and aim to grow. If they get too clever and try to dividend based on 2000 pog, future dividends may need to be reduced. | lowtrawler
14/3/2022 09:01 | tbf, the volatility in the price of gold make it hard to decide on the exact right level of dividend. | shill10
14/3/2022 08:07 | For such a small company we might expect more speedy and nimble actions? But things always seem to be painfully slow? Action please directors and lets get a decent dividend declared. Shareholders are entitled? | michaelfenton
14/3/2022 08:01 | hurry up Werner ! | shill10
14/3/2022 07:41 | Apparently not today then? I don't think any of us are that interested in the accounts. Unless there are surprises, we pretty much know what they will say. Any price impact will come from dividends or buybacks. | lowtrawler
13/3/2022 11:11 | Nice thought shill - I do hope you are right? | michaelfenton
13/3/2022 10:10 | exactly- results will be tomorrow, judging by past years they are already late, guessing the delay is cos they are thinking of higher dividend/buybacks as a result of increased price of gold last few weeks. | shill10

09/3/2022 16:35 | alm2, we can all see 1p is affordable. In fact, probably more. Martin has joined the Board to seek opportunities to provide more shareholder value. Martin has a sufficiently large stake to insist on whatever he wants. Past actions and comments from the Board indicate they do not prioritise shareholder return. They would rather make payments to their friends and each other. They would rather fund pet projects, create stockpiles or have sufficient cash that development of the TSF is not a priority. The scene is set. We just need the announcement. | lowtrawler
09/3/2022 15:43 | Lowtrawler They have the means to pay 1p without question The have no justifiable reason to avoid such Actually there compelling valuation issues requiring a dividend to be paid This is the moment where the board shows where the direction of travel lies Shareholder reward / share value increase - or lining their own pockets and playing with some new costly diversion Time to act is now Alm | ih_692232
09/3/2022 15:29 | alm2, the GDP share price currently contains a boost from having Martin Ooi as a major shareholder with influence over dividend policy. I reckon, the GDP price is about 2p higher than it otherwise would be because of this. A meaningful dividend / buyback programme needs to be implemented this year or the Martin Ooi effect will disappear. My concern would be implementing a token gesture - say 0.5p. IMV, the market would treat this as a failure by Martin and the price would decline accordingly. | lowtrawler
09/3/2022 13:50 | Lowtrawler We completely agree - dividend award is the most single important thing in the future of this company A clear consistent dividend policy and award will transform the share value Those who buy into the company ahead will only do so for a return - there are many very long term shareholders such as I who remain unrewarded after over ten years of investment I would never advise anyone to buy shares in this company without a dividend policy having been put into place and dividends actually having been paid out Alm Alm | ih_692232 |
